The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office released the identity Wednesday of the man who died Tuesday in Pleasant Hill when his vehicle hit two metal poles.
Akmaljon Khakimov, 26, of Walnut Creek, died when his eastbound black BMW hit a raised concrete curb, struck two steel poles and flipped over, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash happened at 2:04 p.m., near the Diablo Oaks Apartments.
Khakimov was the sole occupant of the BMW, CHP officials said. No one else was reported injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Anyone with information about the crash can contact the CHP in Martinez at (925) 646-4980 or email their contact information to 320Investigations@chp.ca.gov to be contacted by the investigating officer.
RIP. I don’t know the deceased individual, but I know his mom. Wonderful kindest woman, deepest condolences to her.
Condolences to Mr. Khakimov’s Mother and his entire family.
I had heard about the crash on Wednesday, as I live just up the street from where it happened, and just yesterday I learned that Mr. Khakimov lived in my (apartment) building. I cannot say how shocked I am, as while I did not know Mr. Khakimov personally, I do remember his face, and I also remember his car now.
Again, condolences to the entire family.
And he was going how fast?
Obviously fast enough…
Does it matter? You don’t know him, he was 26 and his family and friends are hurting terribly now. But you’re here to make a self righteous comment to judge him. I’m sure you’ve never sped in your life. Not once. And I’m sure you’d make that comment your very first if this was your brother, nephew, son, friend etc…I’m sure “and he was going how fast?” would have been the first words out of your mouth. Give it a rest.
Why? Why be respectful when he didn’t give a crap about anyone else. If he was going so fast to flip his car, he was speeding. Speeding so fast he lost control. That really doesn’t paint a picture that he was thinking about anyone else. He put a ton of people in danger. Sorry, I don’t care who is hurting, I am just thankful that he did not take anyone else with him given this bad decision. He was 26, for crying out loud. That is old enough to know better. So, STOP giving these people a pass. GIVE IT A REST.
I would like to see the police report as the the approximate speed he was driving. I’m sick of vehicles flying up to me and almost raming me off the road or weaving in and out of traffic to save 30 seconds to 1 minute to their destination.
May he rest in peace. I looked him up and see that he has lived within a block or two of that corner for at least eight years. He would have known exactly how the road made a turn there. I suspect investigators will be looking into if there was a vehicle or medical issue that led the incident.
I had heard about this crash on Wednesday, and I was shocked because it happened just up the street from my (apartment) building.
I then learned yesterday that the young man lived in my building and I cannot say how saddened and shocked I am. While Id did not know Mr. Khakimov personally, I do remember his face and car. Condolences to Mr. Khakimov’s entire family.
