Joke

Interviewer to job applicant: “Can you come up with any reason you want this job other than your parents want you out of the house?”

Book report: Zardoz, John Boorman with Bill Stair, 1974.Zed the Exterminator, also authorized by Zardoz to pillage and rape for breeding purposes. Then he finds a way to enter “Heaven” where life is eternal. This small story could almost be classified as pron but it’s not really. If you haven’t read it yet then you may have seen the movie. One of the few that stays close to the book and Sean Connery is really good as Zed. Enjoy.

I called them Traffic Circles when in fact, they are called Roundabouts.

I would like to see all 4-way stops be replaced by roundabouts.

@PESFG..…Yes, they are Roundabouts……

OK………Anybody got a funny joke?
I’ll try.

Why can’t you hear a pterodactyl take a whiz?

Because the “P” is silent.

What did the pirate say when he turned 80?

Aye matey!

@DR. JELLYFINGER….My kid would have laughed at those if he hadn’t been run over by a truck and died.

Ahh…… another “Goat Joke” OK, I laughed.

My friend was bleeding, and the first aid book told me to apply pressure. So I told him if he didn’t stop bleeding right away, he’d die.

People who drive on Landana off of Concord Blvd at the roundabout need to know just because you’re on Landana doesn’t mean you have the right of way. It’s an intersection for merging with traffic coming from the side street. If they are there before you let them in. That’s the purpose of a roundabout. I think you have a split second to let them in.

Agree!
Plus, red light at a signal does not mean Go.

@ROZ……”Yellow, go really fast…”

Yep, ….and they do!

That roundabout seems poorly designed.
Part of the problem with having them, it seems to me, is that people don’t know how they work and they are too stubborn to want to learn.
I have seen and I have had close calls at The Veranda roundabout because people don’t know how they work, aren’t paying attention to the road configuration or just don’t care and expect those already inside it to stop for them.

@PESFG I just drive over those roundabouts in my Jeep. LOL

Perhaps I missed the boat on this one, but only saw the Pavilion’s name change in the EBTimes. Felt a slight drop in my heart, ya why not say that. It’s true. It’s an Icon and been going since age 15 when my Flute teacher performed and many events thru the years with family. Just don’t now as I once did. But, it will always be Concord Pavilion to me no matter what they call it now.

@Bella
Having it named The Concord Pavilion gave a sense that it belonged to the community and it was built specifically for our enjoyment. For a while now, the Pavilion has been getting turned into any other entertainment venue.
Maybe that is partly the reason why more people are coming from other cities to cause trouble in the area.

Pavilion website is now Toyota Pavilion at Concord.

I will only acknowledge that special special place in my life as CONCORD PAVILLION … nothing else … saw hudreds of shows there … my mom had all access pass when she was a broadcaster at K101 … so many great memories … stage rushed at Bryan Adams … got a high five … then bum rushed by security and tossed … snuck back in and got invited to the after party in his trailer … but didn’t get to talk to him … he just thought it was cool what I did. Had a few drinks with his crew and went home. Epic night at the Pavillion.

I now recall when I first moved here end of 2004 approximately it was Concord Sleep Train Pavilion.

Huang Di Nei Jing … best book I ever read … trust me on this one … thank me later. Ok.

Now that lanes are shut down on Eastbound Treat and Eastbound YV, simultaneously,
maybe they can close lanes on Clayton Rd and Concord Blvd as well! Let’s see if they can make it take an hour to get to Clayton area from 680! Almost there!

Pick One:
.
A) Pickled Cherries
B) Pickled Strawberries
C) YUCK

C) YUCK, Strawberries and cherries are high in pesticide residue. Organic might be a little better.

I’ve had neither but fresh out of the garden is best, so YUCK! Yes, strawberries are highly sprayed as is celery. So are apples but try to grow organic apples, very difficult.

“A”
prefer to use the Rainier Cherry
yes, ‘B’ is good, but they don’t seen to store as well
.
Speaking of Rainer…
They had several classic commercials
this probably my fav: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0Vab5kkjH0
with runner up being the one dancing in the kitchen…

Does anyone know if the CVS on Ygnacio/Kirker Pass and Clayton got robbed on Thursday, around 6-6:30pm? I saw something really sketchy outside the store at the time but wasn’t sure.

@Dorothy

Cowellian’s First!
We spent the past couple of days on the Route 127 “World’s Longest Yard Sale,” but were finally back to having an internet connection.

Can anyone give an explanation for the 2 person – electric tricycles with a small electric pace car in front, traveling back and forth on Farm Bureau Rd. everyday? I think there are 3 of these going back and forth. Not sure Farm Bureau Rd. is the best choice of roads for this type of joy riding…

I believe that it is either some sort of school project, or a company testing some sort of robotic delivery system. Either way, the folks on the bikes are tracking the robots. Pretty soon it’s going to be the other way around.

So now starting in Sept we will have 4 carts to take to the curb? They need to split up the pickup days. 4 is too many for the elderly and/or physically challenged!

Call your garbage company to see if they offer a senior/handicapped rate. If so, that probably includes pickup from your yard, meaning you won’t have to lug the containers out to the street.

Was just reading an article about tipping, and realized all this includes TAX. Are you tipping on TOTAL amount of bill, or only the pre-tax amount? Think about it.

Was introduced to this at a Hotel in Denver driving back one of my large V8 American cars from Kansas.

has anyone heard about a drag queen brunch this sunday in clayton?

@Amie
I heard something about it starting at 10 am at the Groveside Bistro.

Amongst my collection is a dusty U.S. Enfield .30 1917. Kinda ugly. Last time I shot it was right after I bought it. Bought it in the parking lot of a gun show for $125. Guy had a Colt Python for $850. Stainless 6″. Absolute beauty. But I was a young husband and father and that was about the same as our rent at that the time so I could only drool. Though I bought a BAR from the same a guy a few years later, but that’s for another time. Anyway I watched the 1991 Super Bowl hand reloading, with a Lee Hand loader, 30.06 rounds while watching my new born son. Great National Anthem, crappy game. Anyway you could buy a pound of decent power for $20, 100 CCI primers for $4.99 and either cast your own bullets if you had the stuff(I didn’t) or buy 100 factory seconds for $20. Usually 150gr jacketed boat tails. Can’t remember how it shot though, must’ve been okay if I kept the rifle.
Reason I bring this up, other than I’m tumbling some brass for the next hour, is I was reading about this history of the Model of 1917, and it’s apparent that our war time industrial ability to put a million and a half, high quality, rugged and accurate rifles in the field in a good bit less than a year had a lot to do with our success. I won’t bore you with the whole story but we already had three factories making Pattern 14 Enfields for the Brits, so … being Americans, we made three smart decisions in a row, and out worked our enemies. But all that don’t matter a whole lot now, this rifle though, built in December 1918 ( you can search U.S. Military serial numbers here (https://oldguns.net or https://oldguns.org/) is a tack driver. I shoot 155gr and 168 gr Sierra Match Kings which I just buy by the thousand now. Great bullets. Not cheap.
First trip to the range with it in the 21st century was last Sunday and boy you couldn’t wipe the grin off my face with a 2×4. This 105 year old rifle is crazy accurate. I have in my stuff more than a few purpose built WW1 and WW2 sniper rigs and this rifle out shoots them all at 100 yards. Doesn’t matter what I feed it it. Actually kinda boring to shoot now. Pick one up if you get the chance. There pretty common, they made like 2 million of them ultimately.
Here’s the tech stuff:
Built at Winchester, Remington Arms and Eddystone NY.
Mass 9.178lbs(4.17kg)
Length 46.3″(1,180mm)
Barrel Length 26″(660 mm)
30.06 Springfield, modified Mauser action
with .30 M2 Ball about 2800ft/s
Effective to 600 yards or so with Ball.
6 round integral magazine
Pay between $500-$1200 depending on where you live. $500 Texas, $1200 California for exceptional grade examples. None of them were issued with scopes so if some jabrone tries to sell you an original 1917 Sniper Rifle, laugh at them. And then come tell me so I can go laugh at them. 😉

@ATTICUS THRAXX…Oh yeah, the old Lee hand loader and a mallet, my first venture into reloading. It was all fun and games until I set a primer into a .44 shell in my living room. It went off in my hand and I had to go for a change of pants, my girlfriend at the time didn’t appreciate it at all. I eventually bought a proper RCBS press, definitely more enjoyable to roll your own with the proper equipment. I bought a Lee hand priming tool that held 100 primers at a time. One went off as I pressed it into the shell which set off the other 99. I found spent and live primers all over my garage for years. Other than those 2 episodes I had no problems with my own ammo in many calibers and thousands of rounds, sure do miss going to the range every week.
