Another Spare The Air Alert Issued For Today

Hot weather expected to continue into the weekend has prompted the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to issue another Spare the Air alert for Saturday.

Triple-digit temperatures in many inland parts of the region are expected to combine with vehicle exhaust to create unhealthy levels of smog, or ozone. Smoke from a wildfire in southern Oregon has also been affecting air quality in the Bay Area this week, according to the air district.

When smog pollution is at unhealthy levels, it can cause throat irritation, congestion and chest pain, and is particularly dangerous for young children, seniors and people with respiratory or heart conditions.

The air district encourages anyone doing outdoor exercise on a Spare the Air day to do so in the early morning hours when smog levels are lower.

How about a “Spare us the global chicken little-ism.” I understand algore might need to boost his bank account a bit more, or (non-scientist, non-anything other than a drain on society) johnkerry needs to fly to yet another European country to discuss a topic he knows little to nothing about. I am sure he will avoid the UK, since his plans were called idiotic there.

I’m really feeling guilty because I had a big smoky BBQ today before I heard about the STAD. Really…. so I’m going to take the shop vac outside & run it for 5 or 6 hours, empty & bag it, then tie it shut… I hope that’ll help.

@DR. JELLYFINGER…Don’t plug that shop vac in the wall socket, fire up the old diesel generator.
