Police in San Jose are investigating a fatal traffic collision Tuesday involving three pedestrians that resulted in the death of an infant, the department said Wednesday.
At about 11:40 p.m., officers responded to the area of King Road and Havana Drive and learned that a Chevy Tahoe had struck a woman and two girls who were crossing King in a westbound direction outside of any marked crosswalk.
The woman and one girl were taken to the hospital with serious injuries but were stabilized, police said. A baby girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Tahoe remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The identity of deceased child is being withheld at this time.
Anyone who may have witnessed this collision or has information that would be helpful in this case is urged to contact Detective Dellicarpini at 4103@sanjoseca.gov.
