Brentwood Couple Sentenced To Decades In Prison For Producing Child Porn

A Brentwood couple was sentenced to a combined 52 years in prison after pleading guilty to producing child pornography, announced United States Attorney Ismail J. Ramsey.

Matthew Lee Pelton, 50, and Heather Electa Halwig Gharibian, 53, were sentenced to prison for 30 years and 22 years, respectively, after admitting that they conspired with each other to produce child sex abuse material.

According to their plea agreements, for nearly four months in 2021 Gharibian responded to requests from Pelton via WhatsApp to perform sexual abuse on a 10-year-old child in her care. In messages Pelton would describe his sexual arousal, gave instructions to Gharibian and requested that she films the molestation, which she did, said federal prosecutors.

According to investigators, two minors under Gharibian’s care said surveillance cameras were placed around the house, including in their bedrooms and bathrooms.

Federal prosecutors argued that Gharibian exploited the child for the sexual gratification of Pelton, who they described as a “pedophile with a seeming predilection for preteens and teenagers.”

U.S. District Judge Jefferey S. White, who sentenced the couple, stated that the two “stole the victim’s childhood,” according to prosecutors.

Why even let them live?

There should be an express lane for a date with the needle, electric chair, or gas chamber.

Absolutely wrong! Seems like a lot of years in prison. But I’ve got to ask -and forgive me folks, as I don’t mean anything wrong by it- but if they murdered kids they’d be off in less time. I guess I just don’t understand the sentencing. Especially considering most people don’t even go to jail anymore for robbery and assault.

I meant it’s absolutely wrong what they did.

Those kids will never get their innocence back. Damaged forever. I have no problem with the sentence whatsoever. If you want to discuss penalties, or lack thereof, for other crimes then do.

They would not have gotten less time for murder. They were sentenced in a federal court, and as a federal crime, first degree murder is punishable by life without parole, or the death penalty.

Giving their sentence and their age the most likely and hopefully will die in jail. That is enough for me. Someone made a comment about the State of California and their sentencing laws, it is not only California, Josh Duggar was sentenced to 12 years in jail for posssion of child porn, not sure he ever actually molested someone (although according to what I read he acted inappropriately with his sisters, but he was not on trial for that) I forgot what state he was in, I think he had moved away from his parents in Arkansas.

Put them in general population and announce to the prisoners what they are in for.

I don’t think 30 and 22 years is enough. 30 for the guy who asked the girl who actually did the physical act and she only gets 22?

How about the expected lifetime of these children? Because their entire lives will be affected by this… and I wouldn’t want the kids to be turning 30 something or 40 something and know their abuser was about to get out of prison.

TLDR; 30 and 22 years is NOT long enough. Keep them in as long as the kids they abused are expected to live. For the kids sanity over their lifetime.
