QUESTION: There are many choices, but in your opinion, when it comes to traffic and road conditions, what do you think is the worst road in Contra Costa County?
Talk about it….
Bailey Rd
Willow Pass Road thru old Naval Weapons Station.
second this one along with that patchwork they did on the freeway between Pt.Chicago and willow pass that is worse than it was before they fixed it.
This by miles.
The way I understand it, the Council and the Navy have been butting heads for years over whose problem it is.
well if the Navy doesn’t drive on it and us Concord residents do then it is our problem. No sense in arguing about something that one party doesn’t care about at all.
Well, I know there are many, but, ….
I really feel bad for the folks, and my friend, who live on/off Northwood Drive in Concord.
Even in a newer car with great shocks and suspension, Holy Cow!
It’s like test driving for rock crawling!
Willow Pass to/from Highway 4.
#1 Meadow between Monument & Willow Pass #2 Treat near Carondelet (but is being repaved now) #3 YVR eastbound from San Miguel to the city limit sign up on the hill
Worst road condition: Willow Pass through the Naval Weapons Station.
Worst to drive on regardless of condition: Hwy 4. Nothing else comes close.
I can’t say what the worst road in the county is, but locally there’s too many to list, and most of them are just as bad as the next. In the last few years, I had to align my wheels, and replace my shocks several times from driving on Meadow Lane. Thankfully, they started work on Meadow Lane, which should be completed in about six months. Port Chicago between Highway 4 and Clyde is also on top of the list of bad roads. When it comes to traffic, downtown Walnut Creek can be bad at times, so can Contra Costa Blvd, especially near Target. And around Christmastime, forget about it!
Willow Pass from Landana to HWY 4
Not only are the roads everywhere in bad shape but why is the road from Clyde to Bay Point closed?? So much traffic could be eased from commuter traffic if this road was opened again. There are so many roads closed off such as Port Chicago and Willow Pass where just trying to drive to safeway is ridiculous. Concord has allowed homes to be built then closed off the streets for thru traffic. WHY?
They want people in West Pitt to know their place.
Lucile Way in Orinda. No other road has had nine people shot in one night!
I live in Clyde and when the Goverment closed PCH it made it like heven here in Clyde stoped all the truck and car traffic 24/7 and stoped the hoockers from bay point at the north end of clyde so just suck it up and enjoy Hy way 4
Definitely a bummer that we need to commute over the hill for hookers now. Damn the Man!
I hear the super 8 in Concord is offers a decent late night menu if you want to avoid highway 4.
The black-painted gravel pit that passes for a road in from of my house.
.
Treat Blvd. between Oak Grove Road and Bancroft Road.
.
Horrendous.
.
Pine Hollow after you leave Clayton is terrible all the way to Ygnacio Valley Rd. Anyone know what that lane closure with the ramps and shade tarps was all about on Ygnacio today? Looked like some kind of inspection station.
In Concord, the center lane of Clayton Rd, where a patched line exactly matches where the left front wheel wants to drive. This condition exists mostly from Treat/Denkinger, all to way to Barbis Way, heading toward downtown, which I guess is north westerly.
Depends if you mean “worst for traffic” or “worst-maintained road”.
For worst-maintained, I say it’s the left turn off the I-680 North off-ramp at Willow Pass Road. If you’re trying to get your fix at See’s and you wait at the light and then turn left too fast, your back wheels will hop and you’ll lurch around the corner. That needs to be fixed, big time!
Right now, it’s Treat between Oak Grove and Bancroft but it should be great if and when they ever finish working on it. And does anyone know the purpose of the big ditch along the sidewalk? And how much are our taxes going to go up to pay for all of this?
