State Highway 4 will be closed in both directions in Brentwood from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday to accommodate construction work on a pedestrian and bicycle bridge.
Travelers heading east are advised to exit at Lone Tree Way and re-enter on Sand Creek Road, according to the Contra Costa Transportation Authority. Westbound traffic will detour to the Sand Creek Road exit and back onto Highway 4 from the Lone Tree Way on-ramp.
Further closures are expected by the CCTA this summer related to the work on the Mokelumne Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing. The project is being helmed by the CCTA to connect both sides of the Mokelumne Trail, which are currently separated by Highway 4, via a bridge that spans the highway.
The bridge is scheduled to be completed in late summer or early fall of this year, according to the project’s website.
Was out that way other day and pictures don’t begin to show how Looooong that over crossing is.
Finally.
Gonna be a nice bridge, cant wait to test it out on the trails.
Closing Highway 4 should save a lot of lives.
Hope it’s a test. Close it down nightly. The Pittsburgh/Antioch to Oakland route should be closed at 9PM.
