The driver of a vehicle fleeing from police was killed in a crash in Brentwood Thursday.

On Thursday at 7:06 p.m., an officer with the Brentwood Police Department was patrolling the area of Sand Creek Road and O’Hara Avenue when he observed a vehicle commit a vehicle code violation.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver showed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol, police said.

During the traffic stop, the driver fled in the vehicle, and the officer pursued the vehicle.

A short time later, the vehicle drove off the roadway and crashed, police said.

Responding officers attempted to provide aid to the driver, but the driver was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

It’s never a good idea to run from the Police.

.
A self-inflicted consequence of bad decisions.
.
Glad no innocent members of the public were injured or killed by the fleeing motorist.
.

It has to be something in the water.

The chances of escaping from the cops are low, unless you can make it westbound through the Caldecott tunnel.

Sorry, but you really can’t outrun Motorola. Highway Patrol, Berkeley PD, Oakland PD love to provide assistance to stop runners. People run fir a reason, and it’s usually something serious, so other jurisdictions are willing to help.

Yes you can outrun the Motorola..that’s been proven so many times. Altho you shouldn’t try it if your a stupid driver.

You can’t expect people to make rational decisions when they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but I expect he probably had a warrant or something incriminating in the car that would put him away for awhile.

@Jellyfinger – You’re mistaken, good doctor. For years, I have routinely made perfectly rational, often lucrative decisions under the influence of multiple drugs AND alcohol.

What I never did was DRIVE intoxicated or attempt to evade the police.

Stoned, drunk, or stone cold sober, I conduct myself in a manner unlikely to draw police scrutiny and thus avoid any such unpleasantness.
