Pick One:
.
A) Tuna Casserole
B) Tuna Melt
C) Yuck
Easily casserole, although I do enjoy a good melt.
B but it had better be albacore.
B) Tuna Melt – YUM!
Although I like tuna, I’ll have to go with C.
Did you know that 5 ounces of light tuna contains 18.11 micrograms of mercury? Compare that to albacore, which contains 49.53 micrograms. The good news is, if you eat light tuna only once or twice a week, your body will eventually flush it out. Albacore should be limited to two or three times a month.
Thanks for the tip though I haven’t eaten tuna in ages. Maybe I’ll make my first air fryer tuna melt with chunk light. 😄
D. Maguro.
S – great choices – love ‘both tuna noodle casserole and tuna melt
Like C T , I love both
.
forced to “Pick One”….
.
“A”
And maybe not exactly a “casserole” but I occasionally make a noodle dish with veggies, shrimp or chicken and us Caesar dressing as the sauce. It could use tuna too.
Cowellian’s first.
Take some time this holiday weekend to remember those men and women who gave their lives for our freedoms!
@Cowellian
Definitely!
D: Tuna Piano
@MARTINEZMIKE….but, can you tune a fish?….that is the question.
Whatever happened to Random Task?
Atticus hasn’t dropped a line lately either.
….and Antler?
What ever happened to Starfish?
Also Connie Dobbs – she was cool!

Book report: Waldo & Magic Inc., Robert Heinlein, 1966. This is actually two separate stories.
Waldo is a Sci-Fi story that boarders on a hint of magic. Waldo himself is one of Heinlein’s genius’ that can make you grit your teeth or slug him if he were real.
Magic Inc. is work-a-day magic. Everything is done by magic from construction to clothes. And a mob of seedy gangster types first try to create a “protection” racket. When that didn’t work they go into politics and get laws passed that binds all magic to a shell company called Magic Inc.
Both are fun reads, each on a different level.
Saw a very strange pickup at North 6th and Concord B yesterday. Filled with teddy bears and a Crusty the Clown head on the roof. It took a right and was quickly gone. . Anyone know if it’s local? I’d like to see it again in more detail.
maybe, has to d with the kidfest this weekend at the high school???????
Still waiting on the city of concord to stop the rouge illegal fruit n tamale vendor on Ayers. Do your job. Maybe channel 2 news can do a report on illegal vendors. Expose the lax law enforcement at every level. Someone said it was the health department or someone’s issue well screw all that the cops need to do that and stop bs like that asap.
Agreed. It is also a traffic hazard as people park on Ayers to stop at the stand. At that point, Ayers has narrowed to one lane and a bike lane. Cars parked there completely block the bike lane and partially block the street. If you can’t possibly get your fruit at Lucky ( which is about a block away), at least park on the side street.
Back when there were traffic laws and when they were enforced it was illegal to block a lane of traffic.
Thank you. I will stop by to pick freshly made tamales.
Carmen,
And what do they put in those tamales?
@CAUTIOUSLY INFORMED….The roach egg bundle tamales are to die for. The cricket tamales are really good but only if they pull off the cricket’s spikey legs, just heads and bodies…mmmmm!
Carmen, how do you know they are fresh tamales made in a clean kitchen?
My question would be if they aren’t legal why aren’t they being chased off? Or is there a permit they can get that allows them to stay in business and occasionally visited by the health dept? I seem to recall a while back that some cities including local were setting up permits for such businesses.
Kids running around in the pulpit is disrespectful and distracting. Parents need to teach civil behabior
In restaurants also.
Last night in a W.C. Restaurant two mothers were letting their three kids literally run laps around the dining room. And they kept getting closer and closer, and these kids were old enough to know better. One finally sprinted by and wedged himself behind my wife and the back wall. I stood up and said very loudly, “Hey, knock it off”.
He froze, his little eyes like ping pong balls. The mothers collected them and left without saying a word.
We refer to these as “Free Range Children.” The curse of having lousy parents.
We had some at our last kid’s baseball game running up and down the bleachers that people were sitting on. Constantly. Their parents were standing there, not a care in the world. Even my other child was extremely annoyed! People just do not care to watch or discipline their kids anymore.
What are your fondest memories of Memorial Day?
Mine are for years the Scandinavian Club went to Yosemite. I took my daughter the first time when she was 8. We would hike up the Misttrail on Saturday, when she was 15 we hiking to the top of Yosemite Falls, spectacular. Sometimes Sunday morning we would go over to the Ahwahnee for their brunch, which I remember in the early nineties were pretty reasonable. Sunday night the Club had a BBQ, somebody would usually bring a guitar or harmonica, and we would sing songs after the BBQ. We use to stay at the small wood cabins, (until it flooded and the disappeared) and we would walk acrose the bridge over to the area for BBQ, I remember walking back at night in the moonlight, and thinking Yosemite has to be one of the most awesome spiritual places on this earth.
Other Memorial Days I have gone to Clear Lake where the Club have a cabin. When I was back East I liked to go downtown Westport and watch their cute small town parade. Then we would go to beach and have hot dogs, hamburgers etc. One Memorial Day a German guy I had been dating invited me up to the Finger Lakes in New York State (I was living in New York City) very pretty up there, great weekend. However, Yosemite always stand out. I hope to go there with my granddaugther in the next few years, although I’m not up for hiking much anymore.
Thanks for mentioning Clear Lake.
My grandparents had a place on the water and Memorial Day is always windy. We’d get up at 6:00AM and waterski until noon when the white caps hit. Between family and friends, he’d probably pull two dozen skiers. All of us grandchildren starting skiing at five or six.
But the most fun was seeing my mom, her sister and two brothers all up behind the boat at once. It usually took a few tries but that Chevy six powered ski boat had the grunt to pull four skiers. Fantastic memories.
I spend at least 4 to 6 weekends at Clear Lake, from Memorial Day through September, starting in 1984 until about 2005. The Scandinavian’s Club cabin was on Bass road, right before you got to Konochti resort. We had different theme week ends, Swedish Crayfish in June, Hawaiien Luout for Labor Day, and everything in between. Some quite sedate, others great parties. Several Club member were quite musical, in fact one young man played guitar with Starship (formerly Jefferson’s Airplane) unfortunately he died of cancer at just age 34, but we would often have music. We slept on the lawn, or brought a tent, big weekend we were over 100 people. smaller ones 20 to 40. It was so peaceful up there, arriving Friday night and leaving Sunday afternoon, just total relaxation with good friends, and lots of good times. My very good friend from the Scandinavian Club passed away 3 years ago, he lived here in Concord (Clayton Way), when everything opened up after Covid, his sister came up from San Diego, and we drove to Clear Lake and spread his ashes in lake from the pier at the Club. Yes memories are wonderful I cherish all of them.
Family took many trips to Yosemite, high point was Fire Fall.

@ORIBINAL G..….I remember it well, pretty cool to experience, my family went there a couple of times a year in the 60s.
Two things …
#1 Heard a great quote today on talk radio
“Fear is contageous … But so is courage”
#2 Recently read a fantastic book
Never Fall Down
Unpopular opinion: If after playing baseball for 1 to 2 seasons and your kid has NEVER hit the ball in kid pitch, STOP putting them in baseball. While it might just be rec, you are ruining it for the rest of the team. And, I promise that all the other kids and parents are annoyed, even if they don’t say anything. Your kid makes everyone audibly sigh every time they get up. Instead, find out what they actually like or are good at and go with that.
Speaking of tuna … the best way is Foodland shoryu poke in Hawaii … very addictive … and #deliciousAF
I was using about 800 grams a day … I would always stop to score in the way home from Camp Smith.
Missing those days.
100% of Dutch Bros. sales are smoothies. They have adapted to the times and are riding the teenage wave. They also ASK FOR TIP and if you refuse, their attitude changes rapidly.
When the Dutch Bros. on Clayton Rd is built, they will be competing with Jamba juice and Boba shops, not Starbucks or Peets.
I should have taken a picture the other day and sent it to The Mayor, but it looks like the Martinez Dutch Brothers could be open in a month. It’s quite along now. And it is strategically situated near the high school (as well having a pot shop across the street).

I don’t have much sympathy for Manson or his followers. However the appellate court reversed Newsom’s 2020 denial of parole for Leslie Van Houten. Now it will get kicked to Bonta, and Newsom will assure him that if he values his job, he’ll make sure she stays put.
There is a deep story here. People who own Newsom have made it clear all those Manson folks must die in jail. Those campaign contributions must be repaid.
Releasing young violent offenders to continue to prey on society, well that’s just fine as there is no money in it.
Some are bothered by a lack of tomatoes, not even flowers yet . . . .
