Lime Ridge….. few weeks ago

Mitchell Canyon entrance to Mt. Diablo State Park. Looks like the good ‘ole days – I like to see the mountain lion paw prints in the concrete by the bridge, and walk up Mitchell Canyon. Don’t think I can make it up to Deer Flat yet, but have picked up on exercise and hope to walk up the Canyon quite a ways later this summer. Last visit five months or so ago. Like the Canal Trail by Heather Farms also, but haven’t been in ages. Cheers, all!

Lime Ridge at the corner of YV Road and Cowell last weekend. And I was almost struck by a speeding mountain bicyclist.

Mount Diablo State Park. We back up to the park so we can open our back gate and hit the trails in less than 30 seconds. Lots of variation and difficulty to choose from. The downside is we also get to enjoy the local Rattlesnake population in our yard. A small price to pay for beautiful views.

Two favorites. Mount Diablo and Newhall Park Trail by the Dog Park and around. Mount Diablo last visited 2015 and Newhall Park Trail approximately 2020 walking and some jogging.

Some history. As a little girl our family would come visit Great Uncle and family and we’d all head up to Mount Diablo then dine and then the Mall. My Father and Great Uncle loved taking us kids up the Mountain. Dad had driven the Officers in the National Guard back in the day along Port Chicago and always really enjoyed coming to visit his family and head up to Mount Diablo.

Newhall was my favorite, as it’s close, I would head out in the earliest possible before the heat and enjoy chatting with the Geese as I went by, then rest a few. But nothing was more breathtaking than looking up and seeing the most beautiful, majesting site in view. Mount Diablo.

Clearly riding my bike up to the summit of diablo via Mitchell Canyon in the fall or spring with water running. That was last year. Will sadly never ride again but still enjoy still being on my feet and taking in nature. Mt. Wanda and the Martinez marina have their own draw for me as well. Go there frequently.

Been years but Mitchell Canyon is absolutely beautiful as is Las Trampas this time of year.

Martinez Marina. The Marina was always my calm and happy place. Still is when I come back down to visit. Add the Sunday Farmers Market on Main St and the little shops and restaurants on Main St and it makes for a fabulous day

Come back to your car after a nice hike and find your car windows smashed and broken into. Just drive a beater car .

The Black Diamond Mines are my favorite, I love the history of the place, I try to hike there 3 times a week. If you haven’t been there yet, you need to check it out. It is so cool, and a couple of the mines open up for tours on the weekends.
