@COWELLIAN….Just saw on the news that Gordon Lightfoot died today. He was still touring at 84 years old.

Nytemuvr,
I was sorry to read that. In spite of that one concert, I always loved his music.

Rest in Peace, Gordon Lightfoot.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Book report: Hellstrom’s Hive, Frank Herbert, 1973. This story was inspired by the film The Hellstrom Chronicle. I enjoyed Herbert’s Dune series but this one kind of raised my hair a bit. Project 40 is an unknown secret that an equally secret government wants to know more about. Both see themselves as the controlling force of people and lives. A bit long but a good read.

My wife asked me if she had any annoying habits, and then got annoyed during the PowerPoint presentation.
(not original, I stole it, but it made me guffaw)

Worst hay fever week in years!!!!

@ Bob ~
So True! Hope you get better soon.
My Hubby walks around with runny eye.
I caught a spring head cold, so I’m guessing that’s kind of what hay fever feels like.

Same here.

For me, it should be over in mid-May. I hope!

I’ve had really good luck with Opcon-A eye drops. Instant relief. It’s like putting an antihistamine right on your eyeballs.

Try Fluticasone Propionate, you can buy it over the counter, as Flonase. If you have insurance, ask your doctor for a prescription, it could be cheaper with insurance. You have to use it every day for it to work, and it DOES work.

Flonase will work wonders! I’ve used it for years with great results. One dose in the AM & you are sneeze free all day.

Ok, look I’m sick and tired every single time I turn on the TV, take a quick look at social media and now even more coverage on transgender people that still have their male plumbing invading women’s space.
Bud light (Anheuser-Busch) can go to hell, so can Nike, and that swimmer dude as well and now I see Victoria’s Secret is even pushing a transgender person to represent them.
Enough is enough this is ridiculous you want to be a transgender fine but stay out of the public eye because most people don’t want to see it.

It’s the WOKE Gen Z’s and millennial’s that are running corporations now. A WOKE advertising agency makes the ad, and the WOKE corporations approve them. They are too stupid to realize that by doing this, they are driving customers away. Rule #1 in advertising, never mix politics with business.

Being a regular transexual is not newsworthy or profitable.
A transexual “behaving extravagantly in order to attract attention” is good for a paycheck and an all expense paid trip to D.C. Follow the money……..

Sam Brinton for Samsonite: “I don’t always steal luggage, but when I do, I choose Samsonite, they’re the mostut, I mean utmost. My partner, you know, the one wearing the dog mask? Expects me to bring home the bacon, and that means Samsonite.”

Last year I bought a 300 gallon water tank I put on the back of my truck so I can get re-claimed water from the claiming station in Pacheco, to water my lawn and trees. It seems, a couple of my trees don’t like it, as the leaves turned brown on the edges. Was wondering if anyone else had this happen as well?

One of my shrubs has been getting brown edges – I’m told it was due to overwatering.

Have the water tested, I treat it like well water you have to test it before you use it you never know what it’s reclaimed from I doubt they even have any kind of spec sheet to look at as to what exactly it has in it or where it came from.

… I’ve heard the same thing from more than one person including a professional landscaper that used to use it… not now … not sure what’s in it

I have been noticing a lot of these tamales and fruit stands popping up around Concord. Do these guys have the licensing to do that Concord Police Department? or are you allowing people to set up businesses without licenses? just wondering because the one on Ayres Road seems to cause traffic… its right at the park by the stop sign. Another one off Dekinger… It’s been going on for months

The City of Concord does not give permits to venders. They are selling illegally. CPD has more important calls to deal with but the Health Department does cite them.

Good question. I’m seeing and wondering the same thing. What’s next – hardware stores? auto repair? foot massages? A bar, all set up and running on public sidewalks???
What irks me is those that say ‘They are only trying to make a living!’ Well, so are the business owners that have to pay rent, mortgages, insurance, fees, permit costs, taxes, salaries, repair and maintenance costs….

If I hear one more person say “Top Of Mind” I’m going to lose it.
Really… I’ve got a lot small balloons and a gallon of water, gonna fill up a few and carry concealed. Next guy that says T-O-M get’s it right in the face, BLAM!

Well, off the top of my mind, I would say you may have a bit of a problem to carry them all concealed.

No worry…they’ll be banned soon.

… first they’ll require a license, require an annual inspection, pay fees, the wokes will complain its not available to everyone so the middle income folks will have to subsidize lower income, then say it needs to be included under the 2nd amendment and require a FFL – then they’ll ban it

Just tell them TTFN. That’s what Tigger would do.

If you had a 20 year old car that runs good and has low mileage would you keep it or buy a new car? I’m sure sooner or later I may have to put some $$$ into the car. Thumbs up or down. Thanks

New cars are basically plastic computerized junk. They are engineered to eventually fail(much sooner than older cars), and they are pitched mainly to gullible trend following fashion seekers. Save your old car. It will be worth it. I did.

Keeping old appliances and other mechanical items is a good idea since the quality of so many things is falling, plus now the addition of all sorts of unwanted features. No, I do not want my washing machine to have an internet connection, that will just be one thing that will fail and require service.

Nothing wrong with driving a classic.
For context: I was in last week for the 50K check up on my wife’s car. I was out $700 and things are fine for now. The service advisor talked about all the cool features on the new models, how fast they are, and all the hybrid technology etc. I leaned in close and said, “ Listen, I know you have to be careful what you say to me. But what’s the service and reliability like on these new ones?” He leaned in close and said, “Terrible.”

How fast they are?
How fast they can accelerate?
How cool they are?
All the neat technology?

Who the f*** cares? It’s a car. People these days are suckered in to buying the latest/trendiest toys.

It’s a damn car!

Two vehicles from mid 1990s, which look like they’re going fast standing still, LT1 Corvette engines, you hit the gas and you’re gone.
.
Two questions at gas stations, “ya wanna sell it” and “what kinda mileage do you get?”
To the first “NO!”, to the second “I don’t know and I don’t care!”
.
Only option new was AM, FM, CD or AM, FM, Cassette, everything else was standard.
Change oil and filter every 2,000 miles.

We’ve lost one of the greatest storyteller/songwriters. Gordon Lightfoot passed away at age 84.
RIP & thank you for decades of enjoyment.

Well said. The Troubadours continue to pass on, and always will. However, each generation has its time, and it’s anthems.
While hard to believe for us now, eventually there will be people sad their rappers singing about ni***** and bi***** have passed on.
Times change. We have to be OK with that.

I noticed yesterday that a lot of traffic signals along Clayton Road now have yellow framing around the signal lights.

I just read that the yellow frames are called reflective backplates which are designed to make them stand out so that drivers see the signals better.
