Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy on Sunday.

“Thank you to all of our loyal customers. We have made the difficult decision to begin winding down our operations,” a statement at the top of the company’s website said.

The company’s 360 Bed Bath & Beyond locations, along with its 120 buybuy BABY stores, will remain open until inventory is liquidated.

Bed Bath & Beyond and buybuy BABY each have a location in Pleasant Hill. Liquidation sales are expected to begin this week.

Unfortunately not surprised… been going downhill for a few years now….

I actually wonder if their taking an anti-Trump stand did not speed on this demise? A lot of us started boycotting them after that. Businesses need to be neutral in politics.

They’re terrible.
Overpriced junk.
This has been a long time coming.
Most people use Amazon now anyways.
Go woke, go broke.

The merchandise was generally overpriced at BuyBuyBaby, but the unlimited baby wipes and moisturizing lotion samples were great while they lasted. I came out smelling like a newborn!

.
BBY had been in a death spiral for years… they refinanced their debt and restructured numerous times.
.

The 20% off coupons that have been coming in the mail for years are supposed to be good only through Tuesday. After that, they’ll start slashing prices until everything is sold.

I’d like to personally thank BBBY for literally making me a fortune buying, selling and also shorting their stock over the last few years.
The market is messed up but reaped the rewards during the SCAMdemic on half a dozen drug stocks but BBBY was like taking candy from a baby.

Lucky for you! That’s what luck (karma) is good for. It’s easier to lose money in the stock market than win.

@captain oh you bet I lose money also but the 2.5 years of SCAMdemic I made more money in the market then than ever. Making 1-2k% in that time on half a dozen drug companies was a golden jackpot. I mean it wasn’t hard to see exactly who to put the money on.
Karma..don’t believe in that Rufus cliche..

I wondered where everyone suddenly seemed to have money to buy a Tesla car. Karma (or is it carma) is just another name for luck. But that takes some time to understand. 😉

WHAT!!! Where are your retirement funds, under your mattress???

Time to pay attention to the economy, folks. Printing money out of thin air does not help anyone, unless your are in a proxy war with a foreign country. Stack it to the rafters.

FED funds rate,
FED rate June 2004 was 1.03 and by July 2006 was up to 5.24
.
In Feb 2022 rate was 0.8 and in only 13 months, Feb 2023 is at 4.57
.
Likely FED has made a blunder by raising so much in so short a time.
Has been said it takes 9 months for FED action to take effect . . .

Grey bars are recessions
After each sharp rate rise . . . . recession

Saw bumper sticker,
The economy didn’t kill itself

I use to buy stuff at Bed and Bath. Also Linen and things when they were in business, Bed and Bath have lot’s of items that are well priced. However most of what I need in terms of household items, kitchen, bedding etc.. I can get at Macy’s and I get an employee discount. I might check them out before they close. Several years ago I bought a computer stand for my laptop, when I wanted to replace it, they did not have it or anything similar either in the store or online. They had a lot of items that can be hard to find, in terms of furniture polishing, leather cleaner and protector for handbags and shoes. Although I do believe Target have some.

Loved bed bath and beyond another true favorite of mine I will miss them.

Hard to compete when Amazon can offer same or lower prices that can be delivered directly to the home. I rarely buy things, but if I did need to to BBB, the waits were long. I can’t speak for inventory, since I did not “shop.” Too bad, though.

Amazon was great during the pandemic. I had never ordered prior to that but I like to see, touch and try on merchandise before I buy it. I also am disappointed that big box stores….Best Buy, Home Depot and the like don’t have the in store inventory like they used to. So much has to be ordered and delivered.

Get woke, go broke.

The My Pillow guy is probably laughing.

It was a handy store when I lived only a coupe miles away from it. I took advantage of the coupons and flier deals. The business world has been so chaotic in the last 20 years it’s hard to say who will survive.

Nothing to do with wokeness, or the pillow guy, blame Amazon.

I’m sure BB&B made up for any lost revenue after the “My Pillow” boycott by selling all those Marxist BLM t-shirts.

What can one say except two things. Loved that store and Adapt or die.

.
Concur…. like Sears and Fry’s Electronics They failed to adapt to new technology and online retail realities.
.
.

Been going downhill for sometime and they were quite late to the ecommerce scene…like Toys ‘R Us. But, do look at the stock buyback last year…some people made some $$$$$$$$$$$$ and then let the company go to hell…like Mervyn’s did.

It used to be one of my favorite stores. Funny how I went in there a couple of weeks ago and the place was barren. I asked the clerk, one of the few you could find in the store, if the store was closing. She gave me a condescending smirk and said, “This store’s not closing. We’re fine. We just haven’t got our order in yet” I laughed given the store was pretty much void of merchandise! Guess what smarty! The customer isn’t as gullible as you must be! Good luck finding a customer service job with your lack of customer care! That aside, I am sorry to see the company go under. It filled a needed niche.
