More information is coming out on the fatal collision we reported about on Tuesday evening at the intersection of Stoneman and Briarcliff in Pittsburg.

A GoFundMe has been created for the victim’s family.

The victim, according to friends and family, was 17-year-old Brooke Jeffrey.

The following is from Tamara Brown with Melody’s Dance Studio:

It is with heavy hearts that we share that one of our beloved dancers was involved in a tragic accident this past Tuesday evening. As we have taught & loved Brooke these wonderful past 12 years we all have become more than just a dance studio we have become a dance family. This terrible accident has left us devastated and heartbroken.

We would be so grateful for your support in raising funds to help ease the financial burden for Brooke’s family so that they can focus on grieving her loss. Anything you are able to donate is a blessing, and we know the family will appreciate your help so much!

Hit and run seems to take out a lot good people. I think it would be good for the police to have traffic stops like they have to catch drinkers but to check if people have all the requirements needed to drive a car. If a person has a license, registration, and insurance I doubt they will run. Plus they will probably drive safer. RIP young Lady.

This is definitely most heartbreaking. Tamara Brown’s tribute is spot on. I will be contributing to the GOFUNDME for this senseless loss of life and thinking of Brook’s family during this time.

I’ve written before: I also am a victim of a hit and run on Treat and Oak Grove. A driver in a pickup truck broadsided and rolled me over in my 1971 VW Bug. When it came down on the 4 blown out tires, the old seatbelt was loose and my tailbone landed on the pull up brake.
I’ve had 4 back surgeries, 3 of which they fused my spine. I no longer can walk without aid and I’m permanently bent forward after 27 years. I can’t play with my grandkids at a park or just go for a walk with them.
They found the driver hiding in the storage lockers behind Huckleberry Restaurant, he had no license, no insurance, couldn’t speak English and said that I was in HIS way, in which my 10 witnesses said I had the green light and he ran his red light.
I got ZERO from this man, and the company the truck was from filed Bankruptcy. I got a small amount from my uninsured motorist, but that could never match the salary I lost having to go out on disability from Genentech, Inc. in South San Francisco. I did get my disability from Social Security, but it’s truly not fair that I can no longer work or enjoy life, while the P.O.S. didn’t even do any time in jail… I feel for this young lady, both of us are victims of the nasty crime of Hit and Run.
Let’s help this family!

Heck of a story E, I hope things get better. My bet is most of these hit and run perps pretty much match the guy that hit you.

This is a sad story and yet another example of drivers who just do not care about the risk to others. On my trip up the 101 from the central coast yesterday night I saw two cars driving badly enough they should have had their licenses taken away on the spot.
