30 Years Later – Same Mountain, New Snow, Different Hardware Store

This is fun to see.

These pictures were taken about 30 years apart, but they’re taken of the same building, and obviously the same mountain with snow on it.

Different hardware stores though.

Thanks to Jiska Loza for thinking about our old Online Museum post of the old YardBirds, and taking a picture of the same building with a snowy mountain in the background on Friday.

Love the comparison; both great shots.

What is the location?

Where Outdoor Supply Hardware is (YVR & Clayton Rd)

I always liked going to Yard Birds!

I loved “plant sale days” at Yardbirds. And “rescue the nearly dead plants” – FREE😊 from their dump pile out back! I still have many of those. Surviving and thriving in my back-yard.

…So you all are saying climate is cyclical.

Entropy will win

Only if you understand that weather and climate is not the same. It seems you don’t so..

Cyclical.

It’s February. Diablo gets a little snow every year. This year it got a little more. I have yet to see any coast line move inland or islands go under from the beginning of photography. Hijacking the word climate doesn’t change its meaning.

cli·mate

the weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period.
“our cold, wet climate”
climate literally means weather. Sorry new normals.

Judging by that first photo, I’d almost guess these are 40 years apart. Those cars are not from the 90s, and I think by the 90s, that location was Orchard Supply Hardware for many years (great nursery)

MG – Before you enlighten us all about the difference between weather and climate, you might want to fine tune your grammar. Mamma says snarky is as snarky does. So…

I am a native Concordian and was born in 1981. I remember it snowing in Concord and being a phenomenal thing when I was between 7-8yrs old. So…seems like the pic is more than 30yrs old but a little less than 40yrs old

The original architecture was iconic, in my opinion. And so many similar “roof-line” buildings at that time said “Concord” to me. The current building? meh😏…so-so common. Also, (I know– it’s taken me decades to complain about it) whoever thought it would be “better” to change the building design of the old Laila’s Florist downtown —- shame on you!!!
