Dozens of vehicles were burglarized in Pleasant Hill on Friday night, according to several Claycordians.

One Claycordian wrote the following note:

“Just wanted to share, and would be worth posting, that 36 vehicles were broken into overnight in the Ellinwood neighborhood of Pleasant Hill by JFK university. Vehicles parked along Longbrook way, and in condos near there. California crime wave well underway.”

Pleasant Hill Police have not released any information regarding the burglaries.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it was the 2 from Antioch that got arrested for the robbery in Pleasanton..

IF caught and convicted, after plea bargain,
how quick will they be back on our streets ??

.. bets on Becton would say 12 hrs… we wouldn’t want to inconvenience them now would we?

In my opinion, 10 years would be too soon. They’ll never learn, with only a ‘slap on the wrist’ Somebody needs to grow balls, and really sock it to them. If you really want to see a law enforcement officer, who is really out for justice, please consider going onto YouTube, and watch Sheriff Grady Judd, out of Florida, who refuses to take crap from anyone! More law enforcement professionals, need to follow his ‘model’ of enforcing the law.

Frank
Unfortunately in our state, that Sheriff would be run out of town. There are too many soft on crime people in this state who don’t think anyone should be held accountable for their actions. They believe that these people committed a crime because they were racially profiled, society didn’t love them, they had crappy parents etc. I would love that sheriff to come here. I would also like to get rid of participation trophies … win or lose, own it.

I don’t think most people think there are excuses for crimes committed. i.e. bad childhood, minority. I’m liberal as is most of my friends, I don’t know anyone that buys that excuse, neither do I. I have been a victim of my car being broken into, it is infuriating, and there’s no good excuse. Find prosecute and punish those responsible, It is as simple as that, and I believe that is the mindset of most people, no matter their political affiliation.
P.S. I’m familiar with that area, have a friend that lives there, and once several years ago looked for an apartment there, but found something else. It seems like a nice quiet area.

Actually Hanne, elected politicians and government officials, lawyers and judges do believe that way. The rest of us don’t, but unfortunately the above are releasing all this hayhem down on the rest of us. Some actually think we deserve it because inequities that happened hundreds of years ago. But it’s definitely the trend of things now in California. I guess it won’t change until everyone is victimized and finally wakes up to the falsness of these beliefs.

Unfortunately, it is the liberal leaders with their liberal policies, voted in by the Democratic party. If you want criminals to be prosecuted, maybe you and your friends can change who you vote for.

Vigilante justice probably not far away if something isn’t done soon

This would work as long as the locals keep tight lips. Too many people……telling on the good guys.

Unfortunately, no matter how many cameras you have, unless the cameras actually communicate and trigger alarm system actions (alerts, lights, bells), a spree like this can continue on through the night undetected. As an alarm company, we do not install cameras unless they are integrated into an alarm system, and can provide immediate analytics such as if it’s an animal, a person, a vehicle, and also valuable information such as how long a person has been loitering, and at what time. Example, If a person is in your driveway at 2am, the camera alerts the system, providing proactive security. Old systems only provide you with a high definition video of all your property being stolen, and we all know in this day and age what happens to criminals. Plus, you will never see your belongings again. The only option is to stop them BEFORE they break in. If you’re considering an alarm or cameras, don’t waste your time unless the cameras provide analytics and integrate with your alarm system. Trust me, I do this for a living. Also, self monitored systems are only piece of mind fluff. By the time you get alerts, etc., the burglar is long gone, with your things 🙁 Unfortunately our world is sliding, so the first step in protection is setting up a good OFFENSE against crime.

I see there are a couple criminal types lurking here giving thumbs down to this technology lol!

There are continueous break-ins in the Ellinwood loop for several years now. Every week there are two or three new piles of broken glass somewhere in the one mile loop. And what do you know, when you ignore it, it goes to the next level. We are already seeing home robberies trending up In a brazen way locally, that is the obvious next step for the perps who have met no resistance so far. And this incident was probably the same tweakers that have been doing it the whole time. Contra Costa has welfare offices back by JFK university that draw in the homeless, and a subset of them are criminals that perform these break-ins, no doubt.

Its amazing. We figured out “broken windows” policing works decades ago. But our woke overlords know better, and they have a vision. The vision of the anointed.

We all know why all of this crime is occuring. It is because it is crime without the punishment. That all goes back to electing the wrong people into office. Until we figure out how to prevent that we are sc*****.

There is a homeless encampment right there by the canal, hotels, and Boy Scouts of America. That’s why I no longer park there at night.

Pleasant Hill is no longer so “pleasant”, and the “small town charm” feel that Michael Harris deceptively spouted about only shows it never existed. The south intersection of Poets’s Corner – Oak Park Blvd and Putnam/Patterson – is now beyond sketchy. No way I would go into the 7 11 at the corner, and the Safeway is ok for a very quick in and out for a couple of items – milk, peanut butter, yogurt, etc. I treat it as a large 7 11.
No way I would ever use that Safeway for a full load of groceries, unless Jim was always right at my side.

Is Jim a name for a .38? Regardless of native language, everyone understands .38. It’s inclusive.

@The Fearless Spectator – Astute reply! “Jim” is, in fact, my wonderful husband of 24 years.

However, my S&W Ladysmith has been with me for as long as Jim; they came as kind of a package deal. Not sure she would take kindly to having a male nickname. She’s kinda sensitive about that stuff! 😉

Liberalism is a dangerous mindset. Excuses are not the topic of conversation. Liberals look at the world through jaded eyes. You learn at an early age right from wrong. When you do something wrong, there should be consequences for that particular behavior or incident. Most learn their lesson once corrected and move on with their lives. Those that continually behave in a manner that requires some kind of intervention will most likely continue that pattern of behavior unless society imposes tougher penalties for those actions. Look at our District Attorney. Funded by George Soros. She is woke as they come. She has repeatedly let criminals out of custody due to social and equity issues who should have been incarcerated. She rewards bad behavior in the name of CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM. I will leave this question to our Liberal friends: Has Criminal Justice Reform improved our neighborhoods and society in general in Calufornia?

Wow! I lived in those condos in 2007-2009….. and I’ll never forget on 2009 when I came outside on MOTHER’S DAY morning to see that every single parked car down longwood drive had their tires all slit! I guess things have continued to worsen there as well. Doesn’t surprise me, sadly.

That whole development is just inviting this type of action by the thieves, The way its setup and isolated from anything so people can walk by undetected and smash windows/burglarize without worrying about being found. Id never park or live there personally.
