Mint Chip then and now…..

My favorite kind of ice cream is Haagen Dazs, my favorite flavor is anything except strawberry and vanilla.
When I was a child, I had the most fun at 13. I was old enough to leave the house in the morning, and come home around dinner time with no questions asked as to where I’ve been.

Ice Cream is so good. Many, many flavors are fantastic but overall I’d have to go with Vanilla. It is so versatile…..Vanilla is one ingredient in most chocolate ice cream. I have to go with Vanilla.

Favorite age of childhood? They were all pretty good before the time that you had to have a job and be really responsible.

Strawberry and 16

favorite flavor of ice cream was butter pecan. Favorite age as childhood…hmmm, probably 16.

Pistachio. In India I had a sundae that had pistachio ice cream with fresh pistachios.

Baskin Robbins Winter White Chocolate and 19

Butter Brickle from Fentons. Age 14, I had a great summer before 9th grade

I enjoy a big scoop of jamoca almond fudge! I particularly enjoyed my life at 17 years old…got my first set of wheels and with it came freedom of movement…

I agree with you about jamoca almond fudge. At 17 you are not a child, you are a teen ager.

Are you talking about by law , by various cultural expectations, or by behavior?

I know some 50 year olds that still behave like….

Pecan praline.. yum!
.
Age 9 was awesome. I was enrolled in SFUSD’s gifted program and we were enriched with many experiences that the normal kids did not get to partake in like visiting museums, attending operas and theatre, overnight camping, real scientific experiments, theology, and personal finance lessons.

Vanilla & orange sherbet combo – 9 yrs old

B & R Gold Medal Ribbon was pretty great. And age 16 was magic: cars and girls. One minute you’re a Cub Scout on a Schwinn, and the next minute you’re 16 and well…you get it.

French vanilla – 11

When I first came to the US as an au pair in Westport Ct, I was introduced to an old fashion ice cream parlor. they served a black walnut sundae that was out of this world. Denmark has great ice cream, but when I was growing up they only had about 4 flavor, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and nougat. However, we had an old fashion ice cream waffle cone that was outstanding you got 2 or 3 scoops of ice cream, you could combine the above mentioned flavors, then it was topped with whipped cream, and raspberry or strawberry jam. We also had cream puff, almost like marsmellows, they are made out of eggwhites and sugar then covered with dark chocolate, and you could get one of those on top of the ice cream, whipped cream etc. Other flavors I like that you can get in the US butter pecan, and anything with coffee.

As for my favorite childhood year, I’m a little confused because some here have written 16 or 17. However, in Denmark we (or did when I was growing up) childhood ended at 14, that is when you got confirmed (97 percent of the population is protestant) and then you were considered an adult even if you were still in school. If I go by that I have to say 12, because at that age I went from a small rural school with only 2 teachers, to a bigger school (3 or 4 rural schools combined into one), there were more children of course, better and more interesting teachers. If teenager years is considered part of adulthood I have to 16 to 18. I worked in a small town (20.000 or so inhabitants) I made friends there, started to date, and the town had a jazz club and a rock club that had events once a month, most of all I was accepted even though I was from outside of town, the country so to speak. I was so relieved and little impressed to make friends with young people from that town, and glad to be away from farmers and the farm life.

My favorite ice cream is somewhat different; LICORICE. Loard’s (remember them?)used to make it, and I really enjoyed the flavor, but the grey color was a bit of an off-put. I wonder why no other company has tried that flavor. As for age, I have no memory of any particular time in my life; at my age now, the ages all seem to run together.

A reporter asked Joe Biden the same question just a couple of months ago.
I never realized what kind of top level important stuff ice cream is… even Nancy Pelosi got all involved and revealed the vault that she keeps her many varieties of ice cream in at home… I saw it on TV, really!

If I could still indulge in such an unhealthy treat, it would be Rocky Road… at any age.
