The art gallery owner seen spraying down a homeless woman with water last week in a viral video is facing criminal charges, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said on Wednesday.
Jenkins issued an arrest warrant for Collier Gwin, owner of Foster Gwin Gallery in Jackson Square, who now faces a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly spraying a homeless woman on the sidewalk on Jan. 9.
If found guilty, Gwin could face up to six months in jail and a $2,000 fine.
“The alleged battery of an unhoused member of our community is completely unacceptable,” Jenkins said in a statement. “Mr. Gwin will face appropriate consequences for his actions.”
Jenkins added that vandalism at Gwin’s art gallery, which has followed publicity around the incident, is “completely unacceptable and must stop.”
Video made the news cycle, meaning it’s free TV face time for DA and politicians, so they don’t care how many taxpayer dollars get spent. Name recognition in next election as they climb the ladder is all they care about.

A poor homeless woman hosed down by a white business owner.
Only way it could have been better is if woman had been black.
Population of California is gonna be 0 if this BS keeps happening.
Until we vote these people out of office we will keep getting this waste of money & time.
You can blame the SF Mayor for not helping the retailers, who pay the taxes for the city. There are so many numerous articles regarding the ongoing problem of homeless urinating and defecating in the entrance of their store fronts and leaving needles and garbage. The retailers are at their wits end and are tired of the false promises from the mayors office. Not to mention their stores being broken into, robbed and left with a huge deductible to repair their doors and windows.
