The following is from the Concord Police Department:
Officers were patrolling the area of the Brenden Theater when they observed a vehicle driving with several vehicle code violations.
A traffic enforcement stop was conducted and upon contacting the driver and one other vehicle occupant, it was determined the driver did not have a valid driver license.
Further investigation was conducted, which resulted in a search of the vehicle.
SET Officers located a concealed Glock pistol behind the carpet in the passenger compartment.
Additionally, the firearm was loaded and the serial numbers had been filed off.
Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested for several felony firearm related offenses.
Cool. !!
Wow….Concord is a shell of its former self. I remember when it was safe there. What a shame.
Concord is still a very safe place to live. This is just one violation, and the guy has been arrested. The Concord P.D. is doing its job.
Way to go concord PD!
Enforce
Traffic violations and we cannot catch bad guys! I love it! Now only if the DA would prosecute them ….
Good citizens of Concord, apply for your CCW license!!!! 60+/- days start to finish. At least you can be armed to defend yourself against criminals like the felons in this story and if the unthinkable happens. Buy a gun. Learn how to use it. Be safe.
Mug shots of suspects are more helpful then photos of weapons. Also filing off serial numbers doesn’t work, and is another crime
These guys must’ve been heading to a hit.
Thank you CPD
@PATTY JONES….How so?
How so? I would say … in their car that was stopped by the PD.
@REASONABLE..…So they were carrying a gun with the numbers filed off, what makes anyone think they were “heading to a hit”?
You must be one of those criminal sympathizers
24” rims? Never mind.
I wish the city manager would see the value in spending money on the Concord PD. She’s a large part of the reason our PD is so depleted and not building back up. She holds the pursestrings and doesn’t value law enforcement. The Chief is stymied if he doesn’t have the budget to build his force.
In the meantime, the citizens suffer due to the scofflaws that know our county DA will do nothing to them, and they are emboldened. The ‘thin blue line’ has never been thinner, thanks to our Democrat voters whom have demonized law enforcement and have taken their ability to remove bad people from our streets. I’m in awe of those people that choose to enter law enforcement with as much hate they must take every single day from ‘woke’ citizens.
It’s starts with Valerie Barone, Concord city manager. Let her know how you feel: Valerie.Barone@cityofconcord.org or (925)671-3150. DA Becton deserves our derision too, but closer to home, it’s Barone that is directly negatively affecting the lives of Concord residents.
When’s the last time you saw a motor officer with a radar gun? When was the last time you witnessed a regular traffic stop for running a red or blowing a stop sign? It used to be that if you sped around town, you’d get a ticket. The PD was everywhere. Now….? When’s the last time? No police presence at our schools, a shrunken gang task force is allowing the gangs to flourish again. This won’t end well folks.
Concord’s City Manager never says no to funding CPD. CPD’s budget is just under 60% of the total city budget. Council just voted to give them $600,000 out of the general fund in salary negotiations. If you want to give CPD more money, you will need to offer suggestions on what department will take cuts from the remaining 40% of the money available.
haha, “never says no to funding CPD”. That’s rich.
Hope, who is the highest paid employee in the City of Concord? Valerie Barone, $300,000 per year.
Her assistant is in the top 10 highest paid employees. The City Manager’s office accounts for almost 5% of the whole city budget. The CPD accounts for ~55%. What would you rather have, a gaggle of administrators feeding at the government trough, or 10% more police officers on the beat adding to that thin blue line?
The answer to that question will determine what you value. Safety or bureaucracy.
@Whatever, CPD has had their fill from the table for years. CA Police unions have mastered ways of fear mongering cities to cough up huge union pay packages, or else “doomsday will reign down”… Concord has other competing priorities that require attention, of which #1 is to create “permanent” non real estate builder livable wage jobs. When that tax base expands sufficiently, CPD can come back to the table as needed and pitch their new drone program, task force, military grade vehicle stash, etc.
BFF Out!
That tax base won’t expand, because people in the trades can’t afford to live here. And now, thanks to artificially induced inflation and fuel costs, they can’t afford to commute here.
Good job LE! … names? pictures? …. oh – we can guess
Meanwhile, some cities around the country are banning police from pulling over vehicles for “low-level” Vehicle Code infractions because they say it’s racist. So, expect a lot fewer criminals to be caught in the future as more police departments have their hands tied.
It takes a special individual to be able to potentially lay down ones life for their fellow man. This rarity is common for all law enforcement personel. I just want to say that we are very lucky to have such wonderful people. Best Regards to all law enforcement for ridding our violent society of sub-human life takers.
Many Thanks.
The Contra Costa County D.A. would love nothing more than banning police from pulling over vehicles for driving infractions like Berkeley, San Francisco and several others near us. If the city council agrees to this, throw everyone of those woke idiots out at the next election.
I wonder what the charge is for possession of a handgun not certified for sale in California? That’s a G26 Gen 5 and the only generation of that model certified for sale is the Gen 3.
See how useless these laws are? Criminals laugh at the Democrat’s ridiculous gun laws.
