Police arrested two suspects Friday for allegedly stealing packages from residences in a Benicia neighborhood.
Benicia police received a call at 4:48 p.m. from a citizen who reported two individuals associated with a gold SUV driving through a neighborhood and taking packages from various porches.
Officers successfully located the SUV and found a lot of packages in it that did not belong to either occupant, who were from out of town.
The two suspects, James Michael Matthews, 28, and Wendy Lee Ward, 44, were arrested and booked into county jail with alleged misdemeanor charges.
Benicia police officers were able to return some of the packages to their owners and will work to return the rest, the department announced on social media.
Misdemeanor ? Jeez. No wonder people steal packages. These guys hurt a lot of people and all they’ll get is their hands slapped.
A youtube video reported the time a porch pirate stole a box full of mealy worms intended for the owners lizard. The box was found a few blocks away after it was opened. A neighbor returned it.
