The California Public Utilities Commission advanced actions that will help install more electric vehicle charging stations in the state.
The commission gave Pacific Gas and Electric a go-ahead to install 2,822 EV charging stations at workplaces, housing complexes and public spaces in California.
The $52.2 million program will run through 2025 and will require PG&E to use 65 percent of the funds in underserved communities.
Also approved, a new mandate sets a timeline for utility companies to bring EV charging stations online.
Utilities must connect customers with EV charging stations to the grid in 125 days, take steps to make the process easier for customers, and gather data to identify ways the energization process gets bottlenecked.
A series of mandates from the California Air Resources Board require new vehicles sold in the state to be zero-emission, which also includes buses and trucks. The commission said that it is essential to have EV charging infrastructure in place to make this into a reality.
“Today’s energization decision takes big steps to speed up the process of connecting new EV chargers to the electric grid and to make sure utilities provide customers information about how that process works,” said CPUC Commissioner Clifford Rechtschaffen.
With California taking the lead in electric car sales nationwide, CPUC allowed utility companies to allocate over $1.8 billion in their budgets for EV charging stations, and ensure EV charging rates are significantly cheaper than gas.

So a government agency is funding charging stations. Did they build/fund gas stations in the past?
Well if they are going to be “online” then you just plug your phone into your car to charge your car up. 😁
It all sounds nice, but what about the waste? Has anybody figured out what to do with the hundreds of thousands of battery packs that will be reaching the end of their life in a few years? Some of the earlier EV models are already reaching the end of their life, and there’s nowhere in the state to dispose of their batteries. Those batteries weigh over a thousand pounds, and cutting into them can release toxic fumes. A disposal site will have a huge environmental impact, it will require lots of land, special training, and special permits that are nearly impossible to get in California.
1. Like the electric grid is ready for the load, especially at night.
2. Will enable the thieves to transition from catalytic converters to copper.
3. PG&E has only increased bottlenecks in the last 30 years. Decreasing isn’t in the culture.
And they want your house to be all electric.
A big no no on natural gas.
And the state continues to perpetuate the lies about EVs. If you tell a lie enough times, it becomes true. The Lemmings believe it.
So if I were to buy an EV car (not planning on it, but am planning on brand new cars in 2034), I would need to take my car to an undeserving neighborhood to charge it … or pay additional fund, on top of the over inflated cost of the EV, to install one at my house?
My real hope is two fold,
1) When Newscum is removed from office, these stupid requirements are revoked and made more realistic.
2) Leave the state and go somewhere sane with my family.
Anything to increase government dependency for the lazy.
