There was a recent study sponsored by the American Lung Association which indicated that fog and its suspended particulates causes respiratory problems like COPD, asthma, and other breathing difficulties.

What’s even more dangerous is all those fools driving with their headlights off in dense fog.
Common sense just barely exists anymore.
We can no longer call it “common sense” we should refer to it as good sense as if it were “Common” sense more people would have it “it would be common”
My other pet peeve are ignoramuses using their high-beams in the fog. They reflect off the fog and LOWER your sight distance, people!
Last night (and this morning) was a good example of why REAR fog lamp(s) are a good idea. While I certainly do NOT advocate doing something just because Europe does (they’re mandatory over there), a bright red rear fog lamp makes it much easier to be seen in the dense fog or heavy rain.
US DOT allows rear fog lamps. Paraphrased requirements: 1. Must be red. 2. Must be distinct from the taillights 3. Preferably very low on the car. 4. If only one lamp, may be in the middle or driver’s side. 5. If two lamps, must be on both sides. 6. Must be activated separately by the driver and only when the headlights, taillights and front fog lamps are on. 7. Must be indicated by a yellow indication visible to the driver, and 8. Must only be used in times of reduced visibility.
Some Californians can’t drive safely when it’s clear.
