Caltrans said Sunday that traffic is being held in both directions on U.S. 50 in the Sand Flat area due to vehicle spinouts.
Tow trucks are working to clear the area. There’s no estimated time for reopening.
Chain controls are also in effect on I-80 in the Sierra. Big rigs are being turned back on westbound I-80 at Stateline and eastbound at Applegate.
UPDATE: Hwy.50 has reopened.
