Here’s a good laugh from the Pittsburg Police Department:
“This morning, we made a car stop for expired registration on this 2021 Tesla and they driver told us they were waiting to get the car smogged.”
LOL.
Claycord note: Just in case you didn’t get it, you don’t need to smog electric vehicles because they don’t give off emissions.
Ahh this isn’t a joke. This is the DMV. I don’t doubt this for one second giving my experiences.
Ok, I didn’t see it myself…. A friend has an all electric car….. Got a renewal notice that said needed a smog check…… She had to go to DMV to clear it up… Wasn’t a happy camper…
DMV’s system is far from perfect.
Well considering this car is a 2021, they wouldn’t need a “smog” certificate for another 5 years!
Is it still true that if it is over 6 months, the vehicle is impounded? If so, did they impound the vehicle … I think that says April.
22651(O) CVC – A peace officer may remove a vehicle . . . When a vehicle is found or operated upon a highway, public land, or an offstreet parking facility under the following circumstances:
With a registration expiration date in excess of six months before the date it is found or operated on the highway, public lands, or the offstreet parking facility.
People are stupid. Even if they were in a gas powered car that excuse wouldn’t work. A 2021 model car won’t need it’s first smog check until 2029, or 2025 if it’s being sold.
You have no idea how bad the DMV has become.
At least Pittsburg stops cars for an expired registration, Concord appears to do absolutely nothing by the number I see daily. I’ll volunteer to cite them if CPD is understaffed…
An example of the dumbing down of the country and especially California, duh!
Didn’t you know it’s RACIST to check Registration expiration dates…
I had a young man make a left turn in front of me from the right lane one time. HIs excuse was “I hydroplaned.” It was a perfectly clear day and zero water on the road.
Stupid is as stupid does sir.
Technically, charging a battery can cause pollution at and around the power plants. The car itself? No.
