Here’s an old advertisement for John Jawad’s Pioneer Inn in downtown Clayton.
The restaurant changed hands throughout the years, and the building was a hotel in the late-1800s and early 1900s. It now houses a church.
Fun Fact: The picture below is a still shot from the movie “The Wild Ride,” starring Jack Nicholson. It was filed in Clayton, and throughout Contra Costa County. When the movie was filmed, the restaurant was known as Chubby Humble’s Pioneer Inn.

Had many “business” lunches there with other PG&E management buddies; on PG&E’s account.
My parents loved this place.
Where were the lake shots at ? The delta ? Like the Dana Eststes sign.
