Martinez City Councilmember Lara DeLaney on Wednesday conceded the mayoral race to council colleague Brianne Zorn.

“With the vast majority of votes now processed, it’s clear that Councilmember Brianne Zorn will win the Martinez Mayoral race,” DeLaney wrote, on Facebook Wednesday afternoon. “My congratulations to her and best wishes ahead in serving the town we love!”

DeLaney was seemingly headed for victory on election night. As more votes were counted, Zorn took the lead two days later, with 23.96 percent of the vote. Planning Commissioner Sean Trambley also got a late push, leapfrogging DeLaney two days into counting.

Are they done counting yet?

I couldn’t tell any meaningful difference between the candidates. Kudos to Delaney for hitting the streets and Farmers Market. But I still didn’t vote because they didn’t make it clear what I would be voting for.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss
