Two people died Monday morning in a two-alarm blaze at a condominium complex in Walnut Creek, fire officials said.
Firefighters responded about 6:30 a.m. to the fire in a two-story townhome on Countrywood Court, near Treat Boulevard and Bancroft Road.
When crews arrived, one of the three people living in the unit told firefighters that the other two residents were still inside on the second floor.
The residents inside died in the fire, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Chris Bachman said. Their names were not released.
The fire was extinguished and overhaul is underway.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials believe it started on the first floor of the unit, Bachman said.
Very sad story indeed
What devastation for the family right before the holidays…may the deceased rest in peace and loved ones find strength in this difficult time. I hope the smoke alarms in this condo were functioning properly.
Since I’m map challenged, have this website bookmarked.

The new ones have battery’s good for 10 years..that’s a good thing

Allegedly good for 10 years.
