A few of you have asked about the old military helicopters at Buchanan Field in Concord.

“The helicopters are privately held by a tenant at Buchanan Field and it is our understanding that they are to be restored,” according to airport spokesman Daniel Wick.

May I please have one for my commute? Then I’d be able to stay where its affordable to live and get to where the jobs are that I’m qualified for. Paying more than my mortgage on a 4 bedroom house for rent on a 1 or 2 room apartment doesn’t quite make sense to me. So you see, I don’t actually want a helicopter, I need a helicopter.

My dad has an old MG in his garage that he swears is going to be restored too.

I hear coloring books, crayons and puppies save ‘people’ from the sight of military helicopters.

How much for the Huey Hogs I want one

A great group who are preserving military
history and honoring our servicemen.
My dad who is a Normandy Beach veteran
was part of a group of vets who on The Pearl
Harbor Day Mount Diablo beacon lighting
ceremony flew over the mountain in a
Huey chopper to help commemorate the
event. The Concord Helicopter Museum
group do honorary flights like this throughout
the year. Go to their website for videos of
the flights. My dad loved every minute of
the ride. Thank you guys! You are the best!

Oh nice! More Daily Tours to Add to never ending stream of NOISE coming from Buchanan.

I’m guessing the choppers are owned
by the helicopter museum. If not it’s worh
checking out this fine local organization.

M*A*S*H

I love the too much noise already coming from that airport comments. Why did you move near an airport then if you are such a pansy?

For more information on this important mission you can visit the organization’s website at http://www.vietnamhelicopters.org/

There are more helicopters stashed in hangars around the field…

Please check out their website at http://www.vietnamhelicopters.org/
This will tell you about them and give their contact information if you would like more information. They do great work.

I’d like one also. Shoulda Coulda, I was on the ground watching as your dad appeared from the east and circled around above us in that beautiful machine before returning over the mountain into the last twilight.. unforgettable from the ground as well.

Them is Kiowa scout choppers ain’t they?

About 35 yrs ago law enforcement was offered quite a few of these at bargain basement prices to fix up and use. There was some glitch when it came to using them.

My husband is a pilot for Vietnam helicopters. They are an amazing non-profit company that does so much for the community. They also own the CH46 at Buchanan and the fully restored huey you may see flying around the bay every so often. On top of that, they recently worked with Lucas Sound to do the audio for the Huey’s in the Skull Island movie! So proud of my hubby.

Shoulda coulda, my husband was the pilot for the mount D flight 🙂

Hi everyone. I am one of the pilots for Vietnam Helicopters Museum and I was one of the pilots for the Mt. Diablo beacon flight on December 7th. Thank you to those who support our mission. Please visit our website at http://www.vietnamhelicopters.org. The Helicopters in the picture above were relocated from the west side of the field and we will soon begin the process of selecting and rebuilding Helicopters to preserve the history and memories of these aircraft and those who served in and along side the, in Vietnam.
Thank you also to those who suggested our website in the previous comments. Shoulda Coulda, Did you see the pictures and video of our flight to the beacon lighting ceremony?

@ Silva & Mark

Yes Mark, I’ve seen the video. My dad
is 94 years old and said it was one of
the highlights of his life. Thanks for being
so kind and saluting our servicemen.
Silva, did you know someone on the
flight? My dad’s name is Jake. I would
have said howdy if I knew you were there.

@Atticus Thraxx

My brother who is a chopper nut
says they are Iroquois.

@Arielle

I got to meet your wonderful husband.
Please give our him deepest thanks!
I offered to hold his cool jacket but told
him I couldn’t guarantee he’d get it back.
I was acting as ground crew for the flight.
(The dummy that moved the step stools
out of the way before they took off).

Shoulda Coulda, Nope. I just like to go to the ceremony. How wonderful for your dad!

See, there are so black helicopters.

Fix them up and give Antifa free helicopter rides.
Pinochet did nothing wrong!

I’m in the video! I’m listening to the amazing Pearl Harbor Veteran Chuck Kohler as he recounts his almost incredible story, that never ceases to amaze!
