Stop them…probably not but could slow them down if the media would stop showcasing them.

They are looking for those fifteen minutes of fame.

Stop promoting them with BREAKING NEWS.
Media coverage is not helping. 😱

Squeaky wheels always get the grease. ☹️☹️☹️

+1 and quit labeling everything a crisis and keep it out of the media because it gets sensationalized

Media ratings are very important!! It borders on one up-manship for who has the most updated info and the quickest on the air!

MONEY — MONEY — MONEY!!

Denzel Washington said it best – “It starts in the home.”

Exactly.

It appears that screening potential gun purchasers for mental problems is not working. The FBI let this recent kid go because after checking him they decided he wasn’t a racist. What kind of criteria is that? He hates his mother and father and his fellow workers but he isn’t a racist so we have to let him go.

They can start wilt metal detectors like they do in the mid west. It’s at least a deterrent. Someone would think twice before bringing a knife or gun.

I think it would help if the media stopped giving it so much coverage and then the politicians blowing it out even further.
When I find interesting is that there’s been a rash of these shootings since Biden / Harris took over. I guess they should be blamed for this, as you certainly know Trump would have been. (I’m sure someone will still try to blame Trump) I expect it to get worse as Americans are not happy and the new presidents is not helping to heal us as he said but uses every opportunity to keep the wounds fresh.

I suspect the media is giving all shootings a lot more coverage as it fits the current admins anti-second amendment agenda. And another thing is that all the anti assault weapon talk is not just about those firearms, they are after all firearms.
Consider too that the term ‘assault weapon’ can be changed to include different weapons, including the Louisville Slugger.

shoot back until the shooting stops

Given that no other 1st Tier Country has these shootings anywhere near close to the United States.

Obviously – there is an answer.

The question is do we care enough about life to do what’s needed?

Another question is do we care enough about freedom to protect it? See: Patrick Henry.

I believe the various teacher’s unions are opposed to teachers having concealed carry permits, so the simple solution will continue to be ignored.

If doing what’s needed is emulating communist countries, then no thank you. Feel free to emigrate if that suits you.

Yes, famed “communist” countries like the UK, France, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, and Canada.

Perhaps The Fearless Spectator could have been more clear by writing “emulating policies adopted by communist countries and some others”.

Well what do people love more? Their guns or their safety? Owning a gun makes you feel powerful, safe in the delusion that now you can stop any bad guy anywhere.

It’s like the acceptance of homo sexuality now (stick with me now) It wasn’t fully acceptable until everyone had a gay son or daughter or coworker etc that was out. Then people saw it was nothing to be afraid of. Until enough people who own guns have family members killed in mass shooting then nothing will change. Stigmas over gun control will exist.

Hard held beliefs will continue to blind people from the truth that yes, guns kill people but more importantly they allow people to kill lots and lots of people. Quickly. Any people. Any where anytime. To continue to allow this “right” endangers every single person in this country. I can’t imagine what other people think overseas reading the international news about our country. They must think it’s not safe to go outside here.

For the record Richmond high school has had metal detectors since the 90s

I’ve never seen a gun kill anyone. But I have seen a person behind it use it to kill someone. And they more often use knives, clubs, fists to kill too.

I owns some guns but my only thought is I hope I never have to use them for protection. What would it be like if only perps had weapons?

Whether you want to believe it or not, homosexuality is not fully acceptable. Nor is it fully accepted by everyone. It is a lifestyle choice that many accept and many do not. Giving someone the freedom to live a homosexual lifestyle does not mean that you have to accept it. It just means that you respect others rights to live their life as they please. This has nothing to do with gun ownership. You analogy is flawed. Please try again.

What’s the estimate for the total number of guns privately owned in the United States ? I think it’s around 250,000,000 or more . 25,000,000 were sold last year alone . So logically speaking ,if the gun was the problem shouldn’t we be having millions of these shootings every year ? We would save thousands more lives if we kept violent criminals in prison instead of paroling them back into society to commit more mayhem. But that wouldn’t be political correct would it.

Oh myyy, I do de-clay-uh!!!…it gives me such a case of the vapors to think about the opinion of people in other countries. So that’s it then, time to scrap your God-granted, unalienable right to own a gun.

“Well what do people love more? Their guns or their safety?”

Err, owning a gun is the PRIMARY means to guarantee one’s safety.

@ Schmee, I could care less what other countries think of anything we do here. Maybe you’re looking at this all wrong and since we continue to put more restrictions on the right to defend one’s self, perhaps the incidents where a person carrying a weapon and stopped a malice shooter should be celebrated. Instead, all media squashes it. Perhaps if more were trained and carrying, we wouldn’t have this problem.

Schme,

The problem is that lawless individuals will never turn their guns in, another problem is that people will resort to other weapons, we see that in the news.

As per someone stopping a shooter, well I have been trained in law enforcement, I can hold my own.

108RS

I think it’s a contagion at this point. Better access to mental health care and having the media refuse to show these people’s faces, name their names or air their grievances would be a big step.

Not sure if we as a country will ever be able to stop them with the availability and easiness to purchase a firearm both legally or illegally, however, we will probably see more places of employment and stores use both private and public security guards as other countries have adopted. Metal detectors, bag checks, and initial security checks will slow down but not prevent the shootings. I agree with what others have expressed in having the media constantly uploading the picture and names of the shooters only appears to exacerbate this problem. Political theater is like placing a bandaid on a broken limb.

Unfortunately, there will always be some level of violence no matter what’s done. But…we can start with promoting mental health chekups/services just like any other health care checkup. More people being familiar with firearms, getting training, and carrying them would also prevent people from just being
“sitting ducks”. But overall it starts with society at large. How can you expect someone to value human life yet at the same time say it is okay to abort an innocent child? Unfortunately, things like this may happen more often the more polarized a society we become and the more we ignore the need for a robust mental health care system.

Considering how often it turns out these shooters obtained guns illegally and/or were “on law enforcement radar”, I’d say competent government and enforcing existing gun laws would be a good start. Won’t prevent all but it would help.

I wonder how many of these mass casualty’s came from democrat controlled states…they know who they are.
How many mass casualties come from driving while on your smart phones? I will bet it is a lot more than people getting killed or shot with firearms. How about we stop allowing anyone under the age of 18 to drive while armed with a cell phone?

I agree that less publicity would help, but in my opinion it is a cultural issue and as such is difficult to change. After WWII, that generation was very familiar with guns, they were all over the place, and it was normal. And not much in the way of mass shootings I believe. The culture changed since then. The emphasis now is on self-proclaimed victimhood, division, revenge, retribution. The people who could help with this such as teachers and politicians are self-absorbed into pushing their own agenda items, and much moral power of parents over kids is purposely destroyed by these same weasels.

Get rid of gun free zones.. allow teachers who take proper gun training to arm themselves… quit blaming all legal gun owners…. quit sensationalizing shootings.. increase mental health awareness…

Nope, no answer at all and that’s a fact..
Honestly it’s going to get worse everywhere and everyone better get used to it and plan your own defense against it because it will not stop or slow down no matter what is tried.

Increase the price of ammo.

inmotion,

Right now there is very very little ammo to buy and it is very expensive.

108RS

This is gonna take awhile.

First off, Gun free zones are little more than invitations to rabid mental defectives out for their 15 minutes of fame that their pathetic wretched lives would never afford them. Each one trying to out do the last on body count.
https://tinyurl.com/ue2nas45

Rather than doing hard work to fix mental health system, politicians decided to take the easier softer way and go after ugly guns and a fire arms industry that historically gives far more in campaign contributions to republicans.

In each of the mass shootings listed below the shooters disturbed mental problems were known, EXISTING laws, procedures and regulations were not followed resulting in the rabid mental defectives to legally obtain firearms.

If politicians actually wanted to make a difference they could enact $10,000
fines for failing to follow laws and procedures which already exist. Doing so would result in the person not being allowed to legally purchase.

Recent fedex shooter had a shotgun seized under Indiana Red Flag Law
BUT because the provisions of that Indiana law were NOT followed, he never had a competency hearing. So he was never put on do not buy list and was able to legally buy additional fire arms.

Governmental agencies are evidently incapable of ensuring current mandatory reporting be done, to ensure firearms can not be purchased by the mentally defective.

DEMs seem not to be interested in ensuring current laws and procedures are followed. in past their best efforts seem focused on how many bullets can be fired before the firearm has to be reloaded. Something easily overcome by a shooter bringing multiple firearms, simply discarding them as the go empty and using another loaded fire arm they’ve brought with them.

Again, problems created by Kennedy’s Community Mental Health Act of 1963, need to be fixed.
https://tinyurl.com/zjamdu93

True problem is America has a profoundly BROKEN mental health system.

Let’s assume a lot of these mass shootings are mental health related.
A friend told me he was looking for a therapist two years ago, and they are booked solid. Lifetime patients. Drugs that don’t work, etc. etc. he called four different doctors.

Also, after hearing the back stories of the shooters, a lot are already seeing therapists.

Is there any country out there without a broken mental health care system?

How bout we get rid of all guns, and people can point their fingers and say Pew, pew, pew.

Anyone think violent movies or video games encourage violence?

I always thought it was weird on daytime soaps when the way they solved their problems were guns, and decanters of hard liquor.

Look up Ross Farca from Concord, I/We got him on the no buy list.

108RS

How about this. If someone is found mentally incompetent, they should be banned from buying a gun until they are found mentally competent. Also, they should not be allowed to drive a car, vote in any elections, drink alcohol or have children. Yes, I am sure that would go over very well in America.

People who have been found to be mentally defective are already barred from purchasing firearms. But they’re encouraged to vote in elections, since they mostly vote Democrat.

It’s obviously Joe Biden’s fault.

Since you brought it up, where do ya think those free fire zones for mental defectives came from ? ? ? ? Gun Free Zones, where killers know it will take time for a good guy with a gun shows up, to put them DOWN.

‘Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990’
“Introduced in the Senate as S.3266 by
Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-DE) October 27, 1990

Passed the Senate on October 27, 1990 (passed voice vote) ”
Introduced and passed on same day, bet no one read that bill either.

DEMs needed body count for their gun control to work, . . . .
long in planning ? ? ? ? ?

first yes stop the media from glamorizing it

second stop the media from glamorizing it

next have politicians stop trying to divide us so they can control the narrative

next stop being short minded and clamoring to gut the constitution

next as some have said it starts in the home and i believe schools as well

they show red asphalt in school but dont have any conversations about abusing weapons or treating them lightly

next these people are not in their right minds when they knowingly get weapons and plan an attack ….the after effect is to blame someone else or the constitution or trump or mary jane

next we dont have answers because the most of us have no idea or wants or needs to do this type of thing

so maybe
like the dems do constantly and repeatedly over nonsensical and stupid things derived for their own content and judgment ….
there should be some study and actual research into why they had this choice or how they came to the solution of killing people in an open forum

finding out why people come to this is a step ahead

blabering about guns and police and drugs and white and black is getting no where …can we all agree

You want an answer?
First of all…….you need to stop the 85% of them which are False Flag / Mockingbird type psychological operations.

There’s one which was Botched so bad that you cannot even find footage of the news coverage let alone question it.

Stopping the shooting is not going to happen. There will be more. Seems like there has to be 3 or more killed before it can be considered news. Or if there are less than 3 dead then it has to be in a very public location such as a school, store, church, or park. Admit folks, we are no longer a first class country and we are killing each other faster than any other country in the world.

Hyperbole much? This should put your statement in perspective:

https://tinyurl.com/prej6d9a

And yet we seem to have more people than ever who want to get here, illegally, if necessary. Strangely, the people who least value American liberties appear to be Americans. Go figure.

I guess you haven’t been to, say, Honduras?

Rollo,
Get out of here with your facts. You’re spoiling the left’s narrative.

Dorothy,
Carry on with your hand wringing.

this is another reason why

she ran over 4 boys and 1 died

she is sueing the city
the parents of the dead boys
the police
the county
the other boys

this is an acceptable behavior of blaming the victims and
not being held responsible for your actions

until this stupidity stops the nonsense will continue

and yes it is ramping up as criminals are being glorified
and law abiding citizens are being labeled as racist
the divide is complete and the criminals are doing day light armed robberies on neighborhood streets

god forbid a citizen defends themselves
and the media labels it a hate crime against criminals

its here and you are responsible

Person intent upon doing harm, legally denied a lethal weapon will select another weapon or method not legally denied them.

Commonality between countries appears to be that of mental health.

Best bet is to get Biden out of office….. He seems to be causing these.

The only way to stop a person from doing what they wish to do is to deny them their liberty.

A number of potential actions that may not end school/workplace shootings, but certainly can decrease the number:
For schools: Armed security, including teachers. Which teachers are armed is not made public, but let it be know 25% or more are armed (and trained).
Focus a rigorous education on reading, writing, arithmetic and science, and less on sociology, entertainment studies, etc. Make them too busy learning to fantasize about violence (admittedly, this may have minimal effect). Dress codes and grooming requirements would be important (they used to have them…). And for bullying, swift capital action to the bully. Unfortunately, some kids will snap, that happens, and it is terrible. Not everybody can be helped.

Work: Stop the gun-free zone requirements. Armed individuals in a workplace can stop a shooter faster than law enforcement officer can drive to the scene, get out of the car and assess the situation.

Isolated elected “representatives” sitting in a sheltered building in a state capitol, seeking ways to circumvent the 2nd Amendment are not a solution to stop these awful incidents.

Probably not. These deranged shooters will find a way to do whatever they plan to do.

We as individuals have the most power in preventing these shootings by treating others with respect. We are to quick to judge others based on what we see and yet not know. Bullying is not limited to the school yard.

And this is not going to get much coverage because it is primarily black on black:

27 shot, 5 fatally, in Chicago over weekend

Rather than following the WOKE, Animal Farm crowd, I have a simpler solution: Treat Others Well…without exception!

So much I could say!
Guns do not kill people, people kill people!
Gun control? Frist control black market guns.
Are all these shootings done by legal law abiding gun owners? Nope!
Prison time when you use a gun.
Video games, kids & adults shoot to kill to get there way, hmmm real life??

MS Mom. Yes the laws are already in place. Re enforcing the laws would help.

The “It’s all about me!” attitude that is so pervasive in the American culture is to blame. Just look at the way people drive and how they don’t care about inflicting physical harm on others. Also take a look at the way people behave in public. People lack basic manners such as saying “please” or “thank you” or treating others in a polite manner, instead, people are confrontational. People can’t behave in a civilized manner. There’s also the issue that American society celebrates drugs, sex, and law breaking through mass media. Respect and empathy toward others is frowned upon.
Read this article: https://thoughtcatalog.com/dan-ashley/2014/02/americans-are-rude-thoughtless-and-inconsiderate-how-far-will-we-go/
Notice the article mentions Walnut Creek, California.

Some of you make a lot of sense, others not so much. Agree media coverage is a huge motivator for those contemplating a similar act, until we stop watching or clicking they won’t change their coverage.

If you remove politics from the discussion and look at the data, a huge number of these could have been avoided if the shooter had been embraced by his community (school, company, unit, etc.) and not become an outcast to society. Mental health is a huge aspect of it, but spiraling out of control until they become an active shooter can be avoided without therapy if they have support around them. Simple acts of kindness from someone in their lives to reach out and make a difference could have prevented way more of these than any gun legislation ever will. Of course parents play a huge role but the reality is many parents are incapable of successfully raising a child, stuck in their own patterns of learned behavior and/or addiction.

If you look to the U.K. or other European countries where most guns are already banned, they still have horrible killing of innocent bystanders, but the weapons of choice are vans, trucks, knives, acid, explosives, etc. Unstable people will find a way to lash out regardless of available weapons.

And while maybe not directly related, there is a correlation between the decrease in the number of God-fearing churchgoers and the increase in these horrible events as years pass. How many unstable individuals could have been spotted and supported sooner if they had been at mass every Sunday?

There are no easy answers, but all of us owe it to future generations to try and figure it out.

How come you no longer give the Covid Stats?

Orange Man gone.. cue systemic racism

You might want to ask George Bush or Donald Trump. As Republican Presidents, they had some of the lowest numbers of mass shootings in recent history during their terms in office. It appears to have something to do with a goal of full employment, or at least employment for everyone who wants to work. Something about “idle hands.”

Democrats appear to have some of the highest incidents of mass shootings while leading the nation. It looks like it has something to do with their inability to formulate a workable domestic policy. Then again, their foreign policy is pretty much a shambles, too. Or, it could be their skewed ethics. Their “welfare for all” philosophy might be causing it. Perhaps it is their lack of focus while flitting from one tenuous, hip and trendy idea to the other. Or, maybe it’s their “anything goes,” “if it feels good, do it” approach to life. It could be all of those things presenting a highly unstable and volatile backdrop for the country. The nation is led from the top, after all.
