The Water Cooler – Movies & Television Shows You Wish Would Return

The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.

So many old(er) television shows and movies are being remade/continued. Movies such as the Karate Kid (now Cobra Kai), and television shows like The Wonder Years, Roseanne (now The Conners), Quantum Leap, Twin Peaks and Beavis & Butt-Head.

QUESTION: What is one movie/television show you wish would come back?

Talk about it….

Wild Wild West

The original 1960s Johnny Quest.

I’m very content with the shows I enjoyed remaining products of the time they were made and enjoying them as they were. A vast majority of the remakes/reboots are bad. Cobra Kai is the lone exception.

I would much rather see new ideas and creative new movies or television rather than another remake.

Exactly Miguel!
Just what I was going to say too!

Amos and Andy. If was a funny show, unfortunately the NAACP doesn’t have a sense of humor, and said the show stereotyped Blacks and pressed CBS to cancel it. I always thought Sanford and Son stereotyped Blacks, but nobody ever raised a fuss over it.
I like mystery and suspense, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour is another show that I’d like to see again.

I loved Sanford & Son.
It was edgy but everything was OK for TV.

Andy: “Kingfish, that house you sold me is a pile of junk and I want my money back!”
Kingfish: “Now Andy, that’d be a violation of the building code”
Andy: “Well, how would it do that?”
Kingfish: “I done sold you a stucco house and under the law, that makes you the stuckee”

Sky King!

Gloria Winters was my first TV infatuation.

I loved Sky King; it probably had a small part in my choice of a career as an aerospace engineer. Whenever I see a Cessna 310, it reminds me of the show.

All television shows no matter how old or obscure in short run episodes are available from a multitude of streaming services.
Wishing for a show to come back on tv is not necessary.

Nothing is spontaneous with streaming.

Half the magic of television was having something pop up, enjoying the surprise, calling a family member to check it out, and taking a break from other things to watch for a bit.

Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. I know he is doing How America Works, which is also enjoyable, just not as much.

I want my MTV!

None of them, seems like after 2 maybe 3 seasons they have told all the stories they have. How about something new and original?

The Fall Guy and the Dukes of Hazzard

Green Acres.

Green Acres remains the funniest old show on TV IMHO and my all time favorite episode was “The Ballad of Molly Turgis”

Soap and Offspring

New Black Sheep Squadron, Tour of Duty, and 12 o’clock High series, and original cast of NCIS.

M*A*S*H*

As much I was a huge fan of M*A*S*H; they became even more woke in the last few seasons…. Before woke was a term.

I’m afraid it would be over the top and ruin one’s past fond memories of the show…

MASH

Definitely Mash, Barney Miller, Mary Tyler Moore the one with Ed Ashner.

I remember a while back I mentioned Mayor Art; knowing it was a local creation…. Saw just the other day that Brother Buzz was also a local creation….. Don’t think I new that.

and Captain Satellite, Charlie & Humphrey…

There’s more, but not including franchised things like Romper Room…

I remember watching Captain Satellite in SF. Black and white RCA TV set. I think Chanel 2, 4,5,7, and 9 were available then. No cable back then.

Gamer Pyle USMC … a modern version of Gomer Pyle … I loved Frank Sutton as Gunnery Sergeant (my rank when I was in the Corps) Carter … And Jim Neighbors was one of a kind. What I loved about that series besides showing funny Marine Corps culture was that the producers always framed the episodes about life lessons … not just mindless entertainment like most crap produced nowadays.

Always enjoyed the mystery movie series. McMillan and wife, Banacek, Columbo, McCloud, Quincy. Those were fun to watch.

Castle and Prodigal Son

Terminator:Sarah connor chronicles, firefly

.
Married with Children
.
Miami Vice
.
Magnum PI
.
The Streets of San Francisco
.
Dragnet

Magnum PI did come back!

I’ve never watched it (I liked the original series tho with Tom Selleck).

I don’t really care much for spin offs or remakes… they tend to disappoint…. maybe I’ll give it a shot when season 5 starts.
It had good reviews.

Fernwood 2 Night

👍🏻

Fernwood 2 Night.
…..With Happy Keyne and the Mirth Maker’s!

@Cautiously Informed…. Unfortunately the only regular still alive is Martin Mull. It wouldn’t be the same without Fred Willard.

Dialing for dollars!

Everybody is asking “What’s a dial?”

This is the mentality I feel I’m dealing with when I call my doctor’s office or most anywhere now…
