I have no idea, it doesn’t interest me at all so I haven’t watched any of it.
I don’t get it, waiting in line 9+ hours to walk by a casket? You people are outa your minds.

An online friend who lives in London went over and checked out the line which was extremely long and was estimated it would take more the 24 hours to get to the front.

I’d really like to hear from a native of England to answer this question.

I liked the Queen but I think taking ten days to bury her was a bit much. Also the coverage of Harry and Meghan was not necessary. Now we will have the coronation to go through and it is over, until the next Meghan and Harry story.

I haven’t been watching, or reading about it too much, so it doesn’t affect me. The Queen was a remarkable woman, I never gave her much thought until a few years ago when I was reading a little history about her as a young woman. When I read about her service in the military, and that she was a mechanic and drove a truck, I got more interested in her. She appeared to be quite humble, and treated everybody she met with respect. She had class, and a great sense of humor. In my opinion, she deserves all the attention that’s due to her.
News coverage has its benefits. It can be educational, and I’m sure there are a lot of people learning things about the Queen that they didn’t know. As for the Royal family, yes, there’s too much coverage.

Dawg, I think you are right about your assessment of the queen, she had class, good sense of humor. She also had a strong sense of tradition and duty.

As for too much coverage, I never bother to complain about too much coverage of any particular story, seems to me, if it is on the internet you don’t click on it if you are not interested. If it is on the radio or TV you change the channel or turn it off.

YES!!!

Churches and religious orders that are promoting this epic historical event might want to actually consider why it us they feel compelled to do so. All Nations experience changes of leadership – and the USA worked hard to break away from “the crown.” It might be difficult to untangle ourselves when the actual financial implications of what we are worshipping reveals to be not of the best intentions – especially to the indiginous, (and those of lesser means).

Probably different because this leader was around for 70 years not 4 or 8. The indigenous and those of little means may be interested just as much as anyone.

Queen Elizabeth was a class act. As far as the news coverage, the media covers what they cover. If you’re interested – pay attention. If you’re not interested – ignore the coverage. It really is that simple.

Totally agree.

What do you mean she was a “class act”? I don’t understand.

Sam doesn’t understand class.

It’s an unprecedented historical event in my lifetime, but yeah I think we get it at this point.

If too much coverage is bothersome, don’t watch it!

No idea because I have ZERO interest so don’t seek out any coverage of it. Don’t hate the lady but I detest, no, LLLLOATHE anything to do with royals/monarchy/celebrity worship.

Her ascension to the thrown was an unusual event in itself. She carried the mantle with remarkable grace and dignity. It is unlikely that we will see another “Her Roval Majesty” for many, many years to come. The coverage speaks to the import of the event and the reverence with which Elizabeth was regarded by her subjects. No, I don’t think there is too much coverage.

She was thrown onto the throne?

I watched about 10 minutes to see the costumes and old buildings, so I saw just the right amount. I’m not very interested in the media trying to explain why I should care. I don’t have anything against her, but that is just not my world. I saw those soldiers in the black fuzzy hats in England a bunch of years ago when I was a tourist.

The big black hats are called Bearskins because they are made out of ……..Black Bear skins! (soldiers just call ’em “caps”).

I don’t know how those guys can see where they are going, it looks like as they walk the caps settle down over their eyes…I bet the first thing they’d do in a battle is throw off the damned cap!

The way they carry their rifles is weird too.
They are on a sling hanging horizontally and pointed behind them.
One accidental discharge and it’s tough luck for three or four guys standing behind Queen’s Guard Gomer Pyle.

Dr. Jellyfinger:
That’s the way the British carry their rifles at a funeral, pointing back and down.
It’s not a regular thing. When I wore the queen’s uniform, we carried our rifles the same as everybody else does (was never a guard at a funeral, though).
And the discipline’s so tight that there’s no way the rifles are loaded.

Well… it’s still against NRA safety rules, but I’d be OK with it if they put me up front.

For example I give you Alec Baldwin… he picked up an unloaded gun, which was only to be loaded with blank ammo in any case… then, without pointing it at anyone, without pulling the trigger, the weapon still managed to shoot two people killing one of them.

Crap happens, right Alec?

I served with the British Military and they bagged on members of the Royal Family mercilessly except for the Queen who was universally respected. The funeral isn’t something I pay attention to but I think I can understand why people would want to watch. I predict when King Charles passes in due course it won’t receive the same coverage.

As with everything else, TV news over reports the drama.

The Queen, from where I sit, was a great Queen. The pomp and circumstance of Royalty is very interesting. And pretty to watch.

I like the precision of the military the most. Those guys must practice hours a day.

I didn’t watch any television. I looked at a couple of clips on the internet and otherwise went about my day.

We won our independence from England a long time ago. We gave up all references to Royalty.

I’m glad they have it and I’m glad it’s over there.

It became too much after a few days with a circus sideshow of Harry and his
poor decisions.

Being cable free for over 20yrs I have no clue, but I could care less about any queen coverage, and even more less about some person born into rule because of a bloodline. Amazing tho how some countries are living in Egyptian times still.

No, I don’t think it’s too much, not for her. A truly amazing lady with many talents. “Kentucky Derby” said it best: “Queen Elizabeth was a class act”.

Someone called the funeral pageantry “The Greatest Show on Earth”, especially mentioning the military precision. I enjoy the beautiful choral music, ceremonial trumpets, etc. It is sad that all the pageantry has nothing solid behind it anymore. England is even farther gone than we are. I think the funeral went on a little too long. They were lucky with the weather; it rains a lot in England. I think people are mourning not only the Queen, but the loss of a world in which duty, order, integrity, respect for others, responsibility, appreciation for beauty, etc., were the norm. She was loved because she exemplified that world. I am happy for her that she has escaped her 2022 world. She was watching everything she valued crumbling. “Enough.” The “royal” family, with some exceptions, are like an ongoing soap opera, or maybe a Shakespearean tragedy with some occasional comic relief. Whatever it is, it beats the sordid, money-grubbing, power-hungry, destructive stuff that has been going on in Washington D.C. We probably desperately need to be distracted from the slow-moving destruction of America which faces us every morning. MAGA, and I don’t care who makes that happen!

Yes, there is too much coverage of the Queen’s death. There are a lot more important things going on in the world. I guess Americans are suckers for the pageantry and the family intrigue.

I’ve never been much of a fan of monarchy and didn’t watch any of it. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that Queen Elizabeth was a friend of the United States. I had hoped that she would outlive Charles, but truth-be-told, I haven’t seen much that impresses me in any of her descendants.

I think William and Kate have their heads on straight. However, they are in an almost impossible situation. The monarchy is an anachronism which (in good times) served as a focal point for national pride and traditional values. In my (recent!) lifetime, the UK has become a place of no traditional values and nothing to be proud of. “Woke”, human greed, ignorance, billions and trillions of leftist $$$$, control of the internet and media, and potential control of us all “a la” China may very well destroy us/ the West yet.
Hey people, don’t vote for our mutual destruction! 😨 🔥

Yes, there’s too much coverage in the sense that other stories with actual national and local impact and interest are receiving short shrift from the media.

I hope this does NOT occur with Biden’s demise!! The Queen was an exceptional individual and that is not the case with Biden!
Biden, Pelosi, Lee, et al should be just a asterisk mark.

It is probably over the top for most but it’s nice to honor her. It’s news. I share Grandparents with the Queen. Our Grandfather was Edward Seymour the Duke of Somerset, the protector of England and King Henry the 8th. Our cousin was King Edward, Henry’s only legitimate son. Our aunt is Queen Jane Seymour.

These so-called monarchs are human beings, just like the rest of us. However, they have for centuries declared themselves kings and queens. For some reason, the people adore them, although there are some who hated Elizabeth. I’m wondering who picks up the bill for all these days of “mourning.” I still respect Elizabeth for her many years of service to her country. Hope her son can fill her shoes.
