The only crime that I’m concerned with is that by California’s politicians. The only way to escape it may be to move at this time. A once great State is no more!

Anyone who feels safe anywhere is delusional and from what I see it will only get worse. As police numbers continue to fall crime will continue to go up. What is going on in our country is madness. Yesterday, as an example in San Francisco the catalytic converters got stolen from four police vehicles.

I worried a lot more about crime when I lived in Detroit. While there have been occasional crimes in the immediate neighborhood over the past several decades, I’m not aware of any lately. Still, we try to maintain good security for the house and yard.

We are well armed in case someone comes a trespassing and decided to come in uninvited, but so far for 20+ years here no worries.

Be aware of strange, out of town looking people ( often in hoodies) in your neighborhood walking down the street and talking on their cellphone. They are likely package thieves or are opportunists looking for open garage doors who are working with an accomplice in a nearby vehicle.

Feel very safe. Have my security cameras everywhere from a couple years back when I felt the need personally and other form of protection. Neighbor straight across/live down lane, and I text periodically and see each other outside.
That neighbor just installed a security system, as they get a lot of deliveries that are viewable from the street even down a long lane and I advised them that there were unknown vehicles on my camera coming around looking at their porch and garage on camera and returning later different times of day. They thanked me and got the security system. Fortunately, that now has seemed to cool the heels so to speak of the would be thieves.

In my opinion anybody that is not concerned about crime certainly should be.
It may not have happened to you personally and perhaps it never will but it is going on all around us and it is getting worse and worse. I’m sorry but that is really just the way it is and in this state and county the voters do nothing but vote in ways the exacerbate the problem.

No, and ya wanna know why?……I live near a park where alot of homeless people live and I genuinely think if crime rose around here we would start trying to oust the homeless from the park, which they obviously don’t want, so they go commit crime somewhere else, right??…..Ya pickin’ up what I’m layin’ down?……That’s just my theory, though.

Not worried, but aware and prepared.
I’m disappointed escalating crime so far has not been taken more seriously in Walnut Creek.
In San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, and others, getting rolled every once in a while is part of the authentic experience. Through denial and inactivity, Walnut Creek is now courting similar experiences which appear in conflict with it’s desired image.

Not too concerned… way out here we don’t see too many LEOs… Sheriff’s boat comes by now & then.
Weekend boaters go too fast & get drunk alot… and get arrested sometimes…LoL!
No street lights but we keep property well lit.
Somebody is always home, including the dog.
Alarm system, Blink and Simpli Safe motion activated cameras surround property & alert us, plus we can view remotely if we aren’t right there at home… nobody gets on my property without me being alerted.
My neighbors are well armed conservatives as am I so we watch out for each other.
I’m not too concerned.

Where I live no, it is a quiet neighborhood. When I’m out and about, usually not, but keep an eye on my surroundings. Years ago when I was staying with a friend off Willow Pass Road, I got robbed right in front of the Care facility, it was in fall about 9 p.m. or so, I was walking back from Bart, (my car was out of commission for a few weeks, so had to stay with my friend, since I lived in Benicia and no public transportation suited my work schedule) someone dressed in all black and a hootie came up and pointed a fake gun at me, then grabbed my bag and ran off. Fortunately I had keys in my hand and didn’t have much money in the bag. I had seen him standing on the side walk, and I actually got of the sidewalk and walked on the road, so the car lights would hit me, my antenna was up. It was right before the 7-11 (which has since closed) and I ran into the parking lot, and 2 guys sitting in a car, got the license number of the car he jumped into,
When I lived in New York City (3rd Ave and 36th street) I was young and single, and was often out late, I took the bus home, New York is definitely a city that never sleeps, always lots of people on the bus. When I got off the bus I had to walk a block and a half, I would walk by what was then The New York telephone company, since they had an all night security guard, I always had the keys in my hand, and as soon as I got up to 3rd Ave, I felt safer, the was an all night coffee shop and deli, and people around. Nothing ever happened to me in New York.

Wasn’t worried and didn’t even bother about locking doors until about 10 years ago. Then a group of people pulled a mean April Fools’ joke on me this year, broke into my house, made a mess, and stole jewelry and a few art pieces. Now I have cameras, lights, and pay monthly for a security system. Damn them.

Worried, probably not. I definitely have concerns on somebody cutting my catconv off, or stealing boxes from my door step, but that is about it. I do have heightened concern when my daughter goes out as I know the number of assaults have increased somewhat, and the only time legal action would be taken seems to be if I retaliated.

I moved out of state but not because of crime, it was a combination of things. My kids left to states where they could buy homes, and we wanted to be closer to them plus our home bought us a fantastic place. Twice the size home/lot and half the price, and a much lower cost of living.
We felt safe at our prior home; in 50 plus years we had no issues for the first 35 yrs. 15 yrs ago had a break in which pushed us to install an alarm. After that no further issues until about 5 yrs ago.
Two stolen cars were dumped in front of our house full of stolen property and left running. Packages and our mail stolen a couple times (installed locking mailbox). Started having cars gone thru and having car break-ins in our neighborhood, our trash cans gone thru continually. Outsiders riding bikes or driving thru just looking. Had to keep garage closed even when outside in yard as twice had people (homeless tweaks)walk into my open garage not aware I was there. Even had 2 pairs of my yard work shoes stolen from my porch, who steals crappy old shoes?!
We lived in a closed neighborhood in P Hill with only one way in and out, so no thru traffic off of P.Hill Rd., nowhere near the downtown area.
