Today’s question:

Yesterday, the state of California rescinded the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for first responders and medical personnel.

QUESTION: Should people who lost their jobs because they refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine be rehired since the mandate has been rescinded?

Talk about it….

Yes. Plus they should not lose any seniority or tenure. They should also be allowed some form on compensation.

Yes…absolutely!

yes with back pay and interest

Yes. with pay…

@S
ABSOLUTELY!

Yes.
If they want their / that job back, they should at least have a choice.

No on rehiring because they have shown insubordination, poor judgment.

Uh No, it WAS NOT part of their employment requirement when they were hired.

Nice try though.

Poor Judgement! They should be rehired and promoted for showing leadership qualities, conviction and sound judgement

Bootlicker

Absolutely….with Back Pay.
The Government can foot the bill for the incompetence.

.
Yes.
.
It was never a “vaccine” to begin with. Check the medical definition….
.

They should get their jobs back, plus backpay and they should sue.

Yes. With back pay, no loss of seniority, and government subsidized loan forgiveness for any money borrowed during that time. Why not? We can do it for deadbeat college students.

No. It’s insubordination, and insubordination is grounds for termination even in a union.

I’ve felt all along that vaccines are a personal choice, but to stay employed you have to learn to play the game. Or become self-employed.

@ Kentucky Derby ~
I understand people can move forward being self-employed, but it does not work well for All to go that route.
“Play the Game” or take a “Risk” and hopefully the so call vaccine will not cause health issues down the road. That’s what concerns me.

Derby,.
Last I checked….Union represents their members.
Our Union had an 80% NO regarding the vax.
Other “woke” unions approached our Union and asked: “why aren’t you onboard with the ‘mandates’ “?

The response was: “because we represent the will of our members”.

Also, the next time your power goes out…..Are you requiring that the Lineman is vaccinated????

Yes, they should get their job back and receive back pay and service credit.

In many cases there is no job to go back to.

No. They made their choice to lose their job rather than be vaccinated. Fortunately, they have been able to live with that decision.

Do the employers set the conditions for employment or the employees? I know the employers can add or subtract their set of conditions for continued employment. So I say it depends on the employers to decide to let voluntary non vaccinate former employees return or not. Public opinion either way is incidental.

This is where it gets tricky. I like the idea set forth… in theory. I support businesses to conduct business as they see fit, but I also support medical autonomy and privacy…not sure how to best handle. The problem arises when businesses were coerced, or down right forced to vaccinate employees. It really wasn’t a “choice”.

Ultimately, the State should be forced to take responsibility for at least some of this…as they drove many of these issues.

What happened to my body my choice?

False equivalency.

Yes, if the job is still available I believe the let go employees should have the opportunity to return to the same job at the same wage. I do not believe they should get back pay as many factors are involved – did they receive unemployment, did they find another job, etc.

It depends. No one should be guaranteed their old job back. If the employee chose to resign rather than get vaccinated, then they can apply for their old job and be part of the applicant pool like anybody else. It’s up to the employer if they want to rehire them or not. If they chose to be fired, then no. I would not rehire an employee who had been fired for refusing to adhere to the health and safety requirements of the job.

Fist responders who refused vaccination were rightfully fired. I have no problem with them applying to get their jobs back. But if re-hired they should start at the low end of the scale as they willfully relinquished their seniority.

Hope you will not become low priority if you need help some day.

YES

Do some research and see how many of newsom’s follow the leader Knee Jerk decisions were reversed by The Courts with some being ruled ruled unconstitutional.

Newsom and his pea brain. Keep the fame whore out of the white house. His second partner is already planning the decorations.

The should have already sued for discrimination and wrongful termination.

The people who didn’t take the vaccine were right. It’s useless. Just like the people who fell for the COVID HOAX. Which was about 99%

Any decent company would have granted them an extended leave of absence. To hell with those companies, they’re being run by a politically controlled woke cartel.

No. They should be tar and feathered and put in prison to rot for their insubordination. How dare they defy the edicts of their overlords! If they wanted freedom they would have done everything they were commanded to do by their employer, the board of stupidvisors, the Governor, and their President!

Yes, and make them all pay up, dearly.

Here’s one of many settlements – for $10 Million. Let’s go Brandon.

No, they should get their boss’ job.

Yes, definitely, with back pay and damages for being wrongfully terminated.

yes… and how about all the people Newsum is going to put out of work implementing a 2035 non-gas vehicle mandate?

Really quite honestly disgusted by those who condone and even revel in others losing their jobs over these ineffective vaccines. Imagine forcing people to take an injection with NO LONG TERM SAFETY STUDIES, with completely unproven benefits?

These are the same sick people who believe young children should still be forced in mask in school.

You can really see how some people believe whatever the media and big brother tell them, and become frothing shock troopers at the drop of a hat for the most unethical purposes. If this were China, they’d be the Red Guard bashing innocent babies against tree trunks.

Yes of course. Along with back pay and a class action lawsuit against the state, the drug makers and the local government agencies who mandated that lie.

Well, maybe there is hope that the County will cut out their new draconian quarantine requirements for County health care staff with vaccination exemptions… I had two back-to-back quarantines since they changed the rules for a close contact last month to working in the same “shared indoor air space (including warehouses)” from the old “6 feet or closer” definition, and I’m currently am working at a more isolated location than my regular office (and I’m an administrative person in an administrative unit and never see patients) so I don’t get a third quarantine when we have work that needs to be done. It seems like it’s only the vaccinated people who are getting Covid, anyway…
