One Arrested For DUI During Concord Police DUI Saturation Patrol

by CLAYCORD.com

Concord Police arrested one driver on suspicion of DUI while conducting a DUI enforcement patrol on Friday night.

Drivers charged with DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Concord Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving or operating heavy machinery, which includes driving a car. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.

Concord Police Department will be holding a series of DUI enforcement patrols throughout the year to keep our roadways safe.

Funding for this DUI Patrol was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Saturated the heck out of that 1 arrest though!

$13,500 in fines and penalties, but it probably cost the taxpayers $25,000 in overtime police wages.

Perhaps we should look on the brighter side, it could have cost someone their life. Let’s weigh the cost. IMO, money well spent to save a life.

The $13,500 includes court costs, processing costs, etc. but does not include any lawyer costs. I am so glad I made any drinking mistakes decades ago.

You said driver’s charged, I think you meant driver’s convicted

It also says “face”, which implies a future actin or finding, so it’s still an accurate statement.

… not sure where they went but if it was a saturation patrol – are things getting better? … or not enough LE on the patrol? ..seem strange for only one

2 is usually their cut off point, so they didn’t seem to be looking too hard this time out….

If one is all they caught, then that’s a good sign. There is no “cut off point” for arrests. They are out with a set number of officers for a set number of hours.

I think red light running and stop sign running saturation patrols would be more productive. They just need to sit at any intersection in Concord.

Agree 100%

Preach brother!!!

All for drunk drivers getting caught. However, I do agree about red light runners. In the past 2 days driving on Contra Costa Blvd, i saw 3 or 4 red light runners, one instance the light had turned red already and 2 cars went through it, fortunately the ones that had the green light waited. There were also an accident on CC Blvd, right by the Shell Station, 2 cars pretty banged up, although looked like no one was hurt, can’t be sure it was red light runner, but it was at in intersection, so certainly a possibility.

I know several people that got DUI right here in Concord, no cost public defender, and no where near 13,500 in misc costs. One was released charges dropped, another had to wait so long for trial they got dismissed and another ended up with a $3500 fine if some sort.
Don’t have everything you read about sky high costs for this.
Now I do know 2 people that hired their in lawyers at ridiculous prices 1 got off and one did not do take your chances people..

yeah this guy is GROSSLY misinformed

More fear porn by officials.
I’ve heard of DUIer’s getting nothing more than a serious traffic crime fine. And the 48 hours in jail is when they get arrested and it hits midnite, they have done their 2 days, and no more jail time.
If youre going to drink, why go somewhere and do it?
But if you drink at home they say you’re an alcoholic,so you don’t feel guilty, you have to go out do it with others?
More of them telling you how to live, and how to judge yourself.
I’m convinced that people that don’t have a radio,ATV or telephone have little to no guilt and far more inner peace

Oops
‘A TV “,not an” ATV”.

James,

“If youre going to drink, why go somewhere and do it?”

Because it’s a lot more fun for most people to drink with friends than to drink alone. So, unless you live with all your friends, somebody has to go somewhere if you want to hang out together.

I can remember people saying they got a “502”.

Aging myself for sure…

.
How do police officers check for stoned drivers?
.
Tell them joke?
.
Dangle an open bag of Cheetos?

Maybe they should set up a checkpoint at the Taco Bell drive through.

@Dr. Jellyfinger….. or the cop could just say to the driver….”Is Dave there?”…and see how they answer. BTW…..Was contemplating “Otis & Wilson” but Sam & Dave is the ticket, thanks.

what a dumbass

How much was this grant for?

How much of this grant was spent on this saturation patrol?

Is it really worth the Federal Government going into further debt and having to pay additional interest just so they can continue to issue these grants to every state, the district, and territories year after year?

They got one! Alright everybody!
