Laura Hoffmeister Resigning From Job With The City Of Clayton

Laura Hoffmeister, the longtime Assistant to the City Manager in the City of Clayton, is resigning.

Clayton City Manager Reina Schwartz confirmed to Claycord.com Hoffmeister’s last day will be Friday August 26.

Hoffmeister, who is also the Vice-Mayor of Concord, and has been on the Concord City Council for 25-years, was arrested in May for DUI after being pulled over for driving on the wrong side of the road on Pine Hollow Road.

Although she’s resigning from her job in Clayton, Hoffmeister has filed papers to run for re-election in Concord. She faces two challengers for her District 1 seat in the November election.

Campaign Slogan Suggestion:

I have only 1 DUI to give for my city.

Not fit for Clayton, not fit for Concord office either. I would not vote for her.

I second that

If this individual had treated the citizens of Concord and Clayton with an iota of respect, I would almost feel badly for what she’s done. However, anyone who has lived here long enough knows exactly the type of person she is. She is not worthy of our respect. She is not worthy of holding a position of power. She is certainly not worthy of setting an example for the families of these two towns. Please, leave your name off of the ballot this November so we can find someone more suitable and more deserving of your (former) position. Best of luck to you, wherever you or your opposite lane may take you.

Could not of said it any better.

Unbelievable audacity to run again. She should have also resigned from the Council , never to be seen again. She obviously has no pride or regret or respect for the position.

SO TRUE, GO AWAY Hoffmeister.

Could not of said it any better.

It has been way past time for sour Unhappymeister to find something else to do that she enjoys. Way, way past time. This has not been it and that is certain.

Best news for the City of Clayton. She also HAS to resign from the Concord City Council. She’s been there way way too long. She showed her true colors with the DUI. She should pull her name off the ballot in order to not be shamed by loosing an election big time.

Good riddance to her from Clayton!
Hopefully she’ll never set foot back in town.

Laura should find Helen Allen and join her in whatever dark hole she crawled into.

Setting an example especially in City Government positions is always a challenge anyway with the politics that come and the pressures on a second by second/minute by minute basis.

Reading what has been posted, agree with some and not with others. That’s ok. Separate from the DUI, I do want to extend best wishes to Ms. Hoffmeister on her resignation, and this challenging time and will say I am thankful no one was hurt nor killed, herself included, when the DUI occurred. We’ll see what the outcome will be with your opponents. Twenty five years is a long time.

Seriously I can’t imagine anybody voting for this person for any position. She is a known drunk and a dangerous one at that…..

Laura Drunkmeister running for re-election. Jesus, go away and get the help you need. I’m surrounded by idiots and narcissist.

VOTE her out. (This is for all of you who constantly complain but don’t vote.)

I agree with what you said. There’s a lot of people out there that love to complain yet they never bothered to cast a ballot. They have a right to say their say, but unless they’re willing to do something to change it they should just stay silent.

On the original Claycord thread here, someone actually had the audacity to defend her in the comments, lol:

“Please, people. Don’t pile on. This is bad enough for her as it is. For the love of God, have some mercy. Leave her alone. She will deal with this.”

She needs to deal with this by Getting a Life outside of Concord/Clayton or any other politics. There is so much to see and do outside of trying to Rule, control, Bully or whatever you want to call it. Enjoy your Life Laura!!

Amen.

Off with Hoff !

I have dealt with Laura as Clayton’s assistant city manager on many occasions for various organizations. I have found her to be very efficient in her job. She was very helpful in helping me organize documents and obtain the information needed to get permits for my events.

She was also very friendly and informative when I brought my Girl Scout troop to the city offices.

I see a lot of people bashing her, but no one giving actual facts of their dealings with her. The DUI is very sad, and she will live with it.

Proceed on casting your stones.

She could have killed someone. Maybe a family with a minivan full of kids. Friendly does not cut it. Actions have consequences.

Sorry, but do you think she was just putting on a front “being friendly to the Girl Scouts?” I would bet on it. Probably couldn’t wait until you got those kids out of the building.

Thank you for your post. It is good to see some humanity here.

I can’t wait to see if Concord Vice Mayor Laura Hoffmeister will once again be endorsed by the Concord Police Officers Association. If the Concord Police Officers Association doesn’t endorse her and they also fail to endorse one of her opponents we then know the Concord Police Officers Association is once again engaging in a “we won’t endorse or financially support you, but we won’t oppose you campaign” as they’ve done with Concord Councilmember Edi Birsan in his last two election cycles in 2016 and 2020.

She won’t get the endorsement. Nor will Edi.

DUI next to my house. Could have been my kid driving home from work that she struck head on. 30 year retired paramedic here. She belongs in jail, not in office.

Is she resigning, or is she retiring? As a city employee, she should be entitled to a pension. Now, she could “freeze” her retirement, and start collecting at a later day, but my guess is that with 25 years, and at her age, this is a retirement.

As for being on the City Council, will a replacement be any better? I ask because all I see is a continuing drift, or full-on charge toward the far-Left.

Yes, a replacement will be better. Hoff is very in tune with city ops; however this city is eroding, and needs a new person with vision and less skeletons in the closet to hide from. Look at Concord’s payrolls and see where the fat is. Why is downtown the only area where the city is driving redevelopment ideas and efforts outside of cnws?

Where can jobs be created?
How do we protect our roads from east CoCo thru traffic, or influence these drivers to shop in Concord?
How do we manage vacant business properties that are both eyesores and offer no value to the city?
How is Concord participating in adapting to a year over year hotter/drier landscape?
How can concord pool resources countywide to better serve people who need help, including seniors?

Laura is tapped out, and is running on cruise control. It’s time to take her microphone away and let new faces lead a new generation.

BFF Out!

Drunk drivers deserve snarky comments. People who drive drunk are not great people.

This is exactly the kind of semi sober leadership that works well for progressive cities.
Proven poor judgement & reckless action is bound to deliver positive results sooner or later… it can’t all be bad… can it?
