Concord City Councilman Edi Birsan’s vehicle was broken into (the suspect shattered a window) in the Denny’s parking lot on Willow Pass Rd. on Friday.
A suspect was caught, and the stolen property was recovered, according to Birsan.

OOOOoooooooooooo, let the banter begin….
Surprised they didn’t maker file an online report since it wasn’t a violent crime.
If the suspect says that he needed the money, did a crime actually occur?
+1 …. and description of the perp? huge homeless population there …could be?
I always feel very uncomfortable parking that lot. Love the Denny’s but worry about my car the whole time cuz it is a big hub of homeless living under those bridges.
For the good news is (for the homeless) is that our DA said she won’t prosecute if the theft was stealing out of need.
Lesson learned, hopefully!!!
Denny’s?
That’s like asking for it.
Sorry about the window.

This one won’t get away.Crime committed against a politician.
Edi is pretty soft on crime, should just let the guy walk.

Doesn’t that turd cater to the bums and criminals?
Kind of funny when I think about it.
If he’s okay with folks taking what they need, why even lock your car?
Karma can be spectacular.
The rif-raf is why I stopped going to that location.
Sadly, the pleasant hill location up the way is getting as rif-raffy.
Yes, I do like Denny’s…..
Interesting that the perp was caught, while numerous other smash and grabs and petty crimes are ignored!
Good job as always CPD. Glad no one was hurt, property recovered and perp arrested.
Welcome to the club! Now change some stuff!
Get the homeless gone

63 feeling the age range it’s no laughing matter. Glad he’s safe.
Glad perp against Edi caught on this holiday weekend. Still haven’t seen or heard from a detective about my home burglary on Friday 1 April. I was told that our city doesn’t have funding for weekend detectives but 01 April was three months ago. There were lots of weekDAYS between then and now. I heard through the grapevine that the group may have committed eight burglaries that weekend–I know of three–and that they may have been identified, but have not heard any follow-up from Concord PD.
So call them.
I did call. I was transferred to an answering machine and then e-mailed a form to list stolen items
Wait. Arrested?
Must’ve been over $950 in value of goods stolen.
Who leaves something of that much value in their car in that area?
And I read somewhere that he never told the dispatcher who he was.
‘Me’ touched on it above – if that were your or my car do you really think the perp would have been caught that quick, if at all? Or, arrested? We all know the answer to that.
ATTENTION TROLLS
Below is the report on how it went down and the combination of factors that led to an arrest.
Also note: this was not a homeless person,
Also note: I am actually quite tough on crime and ran on a campaign to bring local courts to specifically adjudicate these types of crimes.

@Sam Malone (If that is your real name) do you have the decency to sit down with me *Edi Birsan 510 812 8180 EdiBirsan@gmail.com and go over your accusation of being on someone’s payroll. Maybe you should check my campaign filings where I am personally owed 18,300 and my City Campaign where I am owed $46,000. Please bring your proof with you.
My FACEBOOK
After I went to the cops, they went to Denny’s where there was an outside video showing a black car with a couple in it leaving the car and a guy breaking the back window and then going inside the restaurant. The police checked the inside cameras and got a very clear view of him as well as he was picking up a phone order with the address and name of his girlfriend.
They went to the address and saw the car outside and confronted him and he confessed to doing it and where the clipboard was, and there was outstanding warrants so they were arrested and brought to Martinez.
This was simply very good police work that worked because of the combination of camera, address and ID in time which is often not the case in car break ins.
I will follow this through the system to find out how it all goes after all I am going to have a $290 bill for the window.
By the way the PD reported it on their FB page and the trolls came out.
What a dumb crook, picks up his order with his girlfriend’s name and address on it. That’s just too funny. It reminds me of a bank robber who gave the teller a note written on the back of his deposit slip.
Sometimes I wonder how these people manage to get through life.
By “trolls”, I assume you mean “constituents”?
Way to alienate the folks you need to vote for you, Hillary.
Edi seems to think anyone who comments on Claycord who he doesn’t agree with is a “troll.” It’s one of those words that’s been overused so much that it’s lost its meaning.
Leave the real trolling to TraumaRx and the couple of others on here that really need the attention.
@Chicken Little
I agree. He could have just as easily started off with:
ATTENTION DEPLORABLES
“Attention trolls” “After I went to the cops”. Classy response.
Trolls?!? Really?!?
I honestly can’t say that I am at all impressed by the decorum you have exhibited here. I am just being truthful, that is not a good look at all for someone that holds public office.
Might it have been more advisable to invite constituents to sit down with you and discuss exactly how you are “tough on crime”?
Perhaps discuss exactly what you are doing and plan to do moving forward to help put a stop to the ever increasing crime we are all being exposed to more and more each day?
I mean opening up with name calling seems like an extremely bad idea and it isn’t at all helpful Mr. Birsan.
Another perfect example of politicians insulting others who have a different opinion.
Claiming being tough on crime is just talk.
@Sam Malone struck a nerve, not the trolls. Seeno vote was costly.
@Glen223
Yes I took notice of the fact that he doesn’t invite anybody to sit down with him and go over exactly how he is “actually quite tough on crime”. That would be something useful and productive.
I think many of us here would welcome the chance to sit down with him and hear what he has done and will do to be “quite tough on crime”….tell us exactly what you intend to do and we can see to it that you follow through.
But when he starts out by calling constituents derogatory names it certainly serves to perpetuate the negative image that so many of us have about our county politicians. They show their true colors everyday.
It says he was caught! Doubt he was arrested for it.
Did Edi have to open an on-line report? No the police showed up for him so he still has no idea what it is like to be a Concord Resident.
“Trolls” may be going overboard on Edi Birsan, but it illustrates how unpopular he is. His fervent, stubborn and misguided advocacy of Seeno is onex big reason, but there are others. As far as the break-in is concerned it is unfortunate, but so are the frequent crimes.
It sounds like Edi was doing the trolling.
Time for Ed to retire and fade away into the sunset…
