Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (Con Fire) today announced the availability of a toll-free hotline for use by residents to immediately reach their local law enforcement non-emergency phone lines to report illegal fireworks use in their areas.

The illegal fireworks reporting phone number is 1-833-885-2021.

The line features a voice menu that allows residents to quickly reach the correct law enforcement number for their location by entering the first three letters of their city’s name. It also allows the selection of unincorporated area as their location, connecting the caller to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.

Use of fireworks of any type is illegal in Contra Costa County and exceedingly dangerous during current drought conditions. Con Fire urges anyone observing fireworks being used to report this to their local law enforcement non-emergency line by calling 1-833-885-2021.

Con Fire’s Fire Investigation Unit also asks residents to help them fight the dangerous use of illegal fireworks by reporting fireworks sales across the county to the Arson Tip Line at 1-866-50-ARSON. They caution residents not to hesitate on information that seems too little or unimportant to matter, adding some of the most valuable tips come from residents who were not aware what they saw was very important to the investigation of an incident.

At 1-866-50-ARSON, residents can leave a recorded message about fireworks sales, or any fire-related criminal activity in English or Spanish. Tips can be anonymous, but all tips are treated confidentially. Fire investigators sometimes need additional information, so inclusion of name and phone number is encouraged.

There are not enough police in this county to handle all of the calls we could make about illegal fire works in this neighborhood.

I spend the 4th weekend with my pets and cursing those irresponsible fools shooting off fire works.

And praying no fires are started.

my father was a fireman for the SFFD for 30 year and he used to sell illegal fireworks out of our garage!!

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Wait……is that funny or not funny?

I have a friend that is a police officer, he told me that the cops would keep the fireworks they confiscated, bring them home, and shoot them off with their kids.

Sounds like a great way to build trust in law enforcement. Rules for thee but not for me!

Who better to handle Fireworks safely than a Fireman. And also how to instruct people to safely use them. God Bless Him.

Ain’t no snitch.

Careful…the Gorical is still looking for you.

I’m not sure you know what communism is….using law enforcement, to enforce laws is a lot different than managing a centrally-planned economy.

Many dogs run away from home on the 4th of July. Something about fireworks drives them crazy. With all the people who have adopted dogs in the last year or two many are going to find that out. Keep your dogs inside.

And keep them off my damn lawn.

Every single night for the past 2 weeks, aerial fireworks and explosive fireworks are set off within a half mile of the Concord police station. The stretch of Monument between Systron and Detroit goes crazy, and aerials from Camara Circle off Detroit.

Every.single.night.

I’m not holding out any hope that a hotline is going to make on whit of difference. The PD can see them with their own eyes and hear them with their own ears, yet they continue.

How about celebratory gunfire like they do in LA?

Ratting out your neighbors?
When they burn down your house or kill your family- you may change your mind, Please never be on a jury.

.. even if you did report somebody they won’t get cited because LE has to see them in the act

Snitches!

As for those who are worried about their animals running away … if you cared about them, and if you knew the 4th of July is coming, how about bringing them inside so they don’t run away? Sit with them and comfort them. Yeah, I have done both of these.

For those not trusting LE, them selling confiscated fireworks is not your trigger … you did not trust LE (what are you hiding from them?) before this piece of information. This is not your final straw, this is just something to get your undies all bundled up. Quit being a drama queen. Not all LE is bad-most are not.

Best fireworks show in SF. Fillmore/western addition. They are illegal there of course rules don’t apply to all.

Now all the Claycord Karens know what number to call.

Good job Mayor!
