Yesterday, right after the shooting, Newsom had a press conference where he called the individual right to bare arms a perversion of the Second Amendment. The only perversion in Newsom himself.
He also called for fast tracking 10 or so new gun bills that are pending in the legislature.
A reporter asked what difference will it make since California already has the strictest gun laws in the nation including an “assault weapons” ban and Newsom didn’t have an answer other than every little bit helps. Newsom is an embarrassment.

Gun safety laws?
This is an inappropriate way to promote her political agenda.
How about figuring out why so many young men feel the need to murder.
A gun is a tool. Whoever pulls the trigger is the freak.
We need a DA who prosecutes criminals under existing laws.
We do not need a DA who touts her political agenda on the back of a horrific tragedy.
I totally agree with these comments. Becton has been nothing but a give a free card out of jail to many times to count and is only trying to act like she cares not that the election is breathing down her neck.
Becton is a serious deficit to the county. Do please vote with common sense and not re elect her. We need law and order back in our county.
Not seeing a lot of recommendations from you on how to solve this Glen. We are often told that a good guy with a gun will stop these tragedies. In this case an armed resource officer and as we are learning more and more, the local police (also armed) were unable to prevent this.
The NRA devotees have failed to prevent these senseless murders. Time to ban the sale of these guns.
I think 21 people murdered in a school IS a problem and it’s disturbing that you do not. I’m offering a solution that will move us toward the goal of reducing mass shootings. You compare semi-automatic weapons to hammers. Hammers can build something, those weapons cannot (they aren’t needed for hunting). Time to get rid of them and the misery they cause.
There is no one, or very few who wants to take guns away, that is a myth. Even Michael Savage yelled at a caller when said caller suggested Obama was going to take guns away, this was in the last year of Obama’s presidency and in Michael Savage words “He has been president for almost 8 years, and he has not taken away guns, do you have something more intelligent to say”. Savage was no Obama fan. Of course, the person who did this is at fault, that is common sense, that does not mean there’s no other ways to try to prevent some of these senseless and horrific acts. Sounds like you don’t have a lot of sympathy for the parents of the Sandy Hook tragedy, yet you accuse Becton of being a political opportunist.
@Hanne
No, Hanne, it’s not a myth. Michael Moore is definitely one, as he just admitted it……and there are a lot more, not just a few. Don’t defend anyone going after the U.S. Constitution; the authors knew what they were doing.
It’s not a myth. The Democratic Party whould love to take guns away. Do you know why they can’t pass an assault weapon ban? Its because they write a bill that is so vague that they can use it to ban millions of common firearms. That’s there plan. What is the only thing coming out of the mouths of every democratic politician after an evil maniac takes innocent lives? Gun control. How about they pass a bill that every school have steel classroom doors that must be locked from the inside. Or all schools have a secure fence and video surveillance around the peremiter . There are a lot of ways to protect our school children that would work. Obviously the politicians only care about their obsession for gun control.
Bizarre indeed. 19 dead? Not every shot is going to be a kill shot. Not every shot is even going to be a hit. So how many shots were fired? Over what duration of time? What was the reaction time from the police? No video?
Very strange. But our government is certainly not capable of a complex hoax for political gain. So I’ll continue to unquestionably believe their every narrative.
Beto (Cultural Appropriation) O’Rourke: “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” .
Yep it’s all a myth.

More laws to impose on those who follow the laws. What about those who are intent to break those laws? The criminals? You know, the very definition of those who do not abide by the law. Murder is against the law. It matters not by the means. The evil person who did this is the criminal, not the inanimate object.

Brackground checks, that’s the agenda, Trying to find a way to prvent these mass murders. A Smith & Wesson MP15 can fire 400 rounds per minute. Why do you need a rifle that does that ??
Because it’s fun and may come in handy some day. It’s also my right to own modern armaments. They already do background checks. The agenda is not background checks. Why not be honest for once?
400 rounds per minute, you say? Is this some theoretical cyclic rate based on inhumanly possible mechanics, coupled with a magazine that doesn’t exist?
You truly, utterly, have no idea what you’re talking about, sir.
400 rounds/minute is a theoretical cyclic rate – and is not possible when humans are involved.
1. Malfunctions of any type are not factored into this calculation.
2. The MP15 is a semi-automatic rifle, which means that you have to pull the trigger each time to fire a round. Nobody can pull the trigger 400 times in 60 seconds and expect to hit a target.
3. Reloading is not factored in, and they don’t make 400 rd magazines.
I could go on – but the point is the 400 rd/minute rate is BS trotted out by morons who have no knowledge or expertise with firearms.
My background- retired military and law enforcement, department armorer and NRA instructor.

This is only slightly a gun control problem. The real problem is why are these young men going nuts enough to kill children or anyone for that matter. The ability to buy guns legally is a shortcut to what they plan on doing. Ninety nine point nine percent of us have the ability to buy guns but we don’t have desire to kill someone, let alone a classroom of children. This is a problem of kids who have become ill in today’s culture. If it is to be stopped, which is doubtful, we have to be able to identify who is capable of doing such a horrendous thing. Isolation, social media, cancellation, murderous video games, really strange music, are not tolerated by all. Take the killer in Buffalo he was under a mental health watch but then let go with no one to give him mentoring. That has to be improved. The kid in Texas dropped out of school. Was he ever called back to the school and talked to about his problems? No, someone from admission called and asked where he was, maybe. All of these things may have had no tragic end fifty years ago but the culture is different now. Technology has its good and bad points. Haven’t even mentioned the daily slaughter going on in our streets everyday or overdose deaths.
If or when America becomes a communist regime, the government can order the populace to surrender all firearms, ransack every home and seize every gun & bullet they can find & there will STILL be guns…. they aren’t that hard to hide, but then those that abide by the law will be unarmed. Some solution!
You don’t seem to be proposing a solution. You even say you don’t expect to help these mentally ill kids. So if you don’t have a workable solution then passing laws that make these weapons unavailable sounds pretty appealing.
How about pro-abortionist?? That’s murder at the womb level! These pro-abortionist are in the same class as any of these shooters and criminal-types in OKLD, Bay Point, RCMD, Antc, etc.
Murder is murder!! When you have a DA backed by the likes of Soros, Zuckerberg, you have a USELESS pawn!
Chuq – as I’ve said before, you take others to task for not proposing a solution. Yet you’re doing the same thing by making grandiose demands with no idea how to accomplish that.
You’ve also made a statement about resisting the US military. You have no idea about the military and being issued unlawful orders. You seem to be of the same mind as Eric Swalwell who intimidated that nuclear weapons would be used against US citizens who don’t comply.
Chug The obvious solution is to stop ignoring troubled young men. You can stop selling guns but there are more guns in the US than there are people. Anyone with four thousand dollars like the kid in Texas had can buy a gun out of a car trunk. Both the kid in Buffalo and the one in Texas showed signs of mental illness but were left on their own. Maybe people much smarter than me can find a way to change our corrupted culture. Maybe we should spend more money on mental health. There are solutions but we have a divided country that is going down hill with no one in charge.
What is your plan for helping these troubled young men? Are you suggesting other nations don’t have them?
Blaming this on violent video games and weird music is nonsense because people all over the world play violent video games and listen to weird music and only the USA has these very, very frequent school shootings.
Are you at least advocating for a ban on selling guns to troubled young men? This guy was a legal gun owner and he wasn’t a criminal… until he was.
Him buying AR-15s out of a trunk would require him to form some underworld connections one supposes, that sounds like something our police would be able to make difficult.
I am excited that you want to increase funding toward mental health services – that seems very worthy. But right now your method of doing things makes it very easy for these folks to get semi-automatic weapons and we need to ban their sale.
Would the massacre have happened if a police officer or sheriff or two happened to be stationed at the school ready to rock and roll in case of a bad situation?
Oh no that would make a police state, the opposite of what liberals and socialists want.
Instead guns are the problem.
Ok well let’s just ban guns. No one can have them, even police or military.
All the guns and bombs being sent to Ukraine, let’s ban those as well.
Let’s ban all weapons that exist matter of fact.
Let’s see who still has weapons after we ban them.
The school had an armed resource officer. So the answer to your question is yes it would have happened because it did happen.
Our citizens don’t need AR-15s. They don’t.
You agree that there should be some limits on weapons right? Right now illegal weapons in the US include: incendiary or poison gas bombs, grenades, rockets, missiles, mines, and similar devices.
Grenades are illegal for a reason. AR-15s should be as well, your armed officer at a school can’t repel someone who is carrying one.
Well, what a useless armed resource officer. Don’t try and tell me “oh well the armed resource officer was scared”. They took an oath to protect and serve. They had people to protect and serve in this situation. They’re putting they’re lives on the line because of their occupation and that is their job. Can’t believe Border Patrol Agents far out from their jurisdiction saved the day. THANK GOD for them.
No one needs a gun at all. They don’t. They don’t need any kind of weapons. They might hurt or kill someone for any reason.
Limits on weapons? Who’s following the limits? The people who want to follow the law? Did the school shooter feel like following the law that day? Any law at all? Don’t think he cared about the law that day. Maybe the law is the problem in addition to the gun. Life in prison for taking life or losing your own life is not enough of a punishment for murder, let alone the murder of 19 individuals. There needs to be a greater punishment. Ahh that’s right, let’s take away rifles from people who had nothing to do with the situation. There we go. Problem solved.
Grenades are illegal for a reason. Amazing. Why does that matter when if you feel like building one or getting one, you can have one? Same goes for AR-15s. If AR-15s were illegal, do they dissapear from existence simply? Criminals don’t care if something is legal or illegal. Did the school shooter care about the consequences? Nope. Did he care or not care about the legal status of storming a school and killing 19 individuals? Nope. What did he care about? Not a damn thing!
If the shooter couldn’t buy the gun at the store, he might have used pistols instead, bought an AR-15 off the streets, or figured how to build his own. Maybe created a bomb and blew up the school instead. Regardless, he was gonna do what he was gonna do. Because he didn’t care. Maybe we should pass another law about not caring about the law as well.
A drill, a couple 4″ lag screws to jam the exit doors and a gallon of gas….. you could wipe out everyone in a multi story building…. banning guns won’t make it stop….. I’m surprised so many nutjobs even use a gun.
Gosh Dr Jellyfinger, why is it then that these events aren’t carried out with a gallon of gas? Why is it usually AR-15s? And if AR-15s aren’t necessary what’s your justification for not banking their sale?
You believe in some limits on the sale of weapons don’t you? Should we be allowed to own grenades?

DA Becton wants more “common sense gun laws”. It’s common sense to be able to protect yourself and your home from criminals. Politicians can afford armed security.
One of the so-called “common sense” gun laws passed recently provides for the disclosure of personally identifiable information including address of registered gun owners to outside parties. It almost seems designed to promote armed conflict.

These mass shooters always choose soft targets, where its guaranteed that everyone is unarmed. Many mass shooters have even stated as much.
Guns are not the cause of these shootings and further encroachments on our right to bear arms are not the solution.
Not even a total ban on guns would ever solve this problem in the USA; not in 100 years. Guns aren’t the root cause of the problem, and there’s no reason these people couldn’t just choose to drive a truck through a playground instead, make a bomb, chemical weapon, or other terrifying means of mass slaying.
Though bootlickers would have you believe otherwise, because they have an agenda to disempower the citizenry to join their bootlicking ranks, to become a servant to the state and have no rights, or property, and be happy about that.
They don’t care how easy it is to make a gun in 2022, nor do they care about the fact that the black market for guns would make such bans no more effective than the war on drugs–it’s not about the guns, but about achieving tyranny. It’s a lot harder to achieve tyranny if there are many 10s of millions of law-abiding people who are armed and can provide any degree of resistance.
If you remove all gang violence in the USA and Sweden or Norway, which is all a direct result of the war on drugs, the USA is no more violent than those countries.
All the people who want to opine about gun “regulation” [i.e. infringements] typically don’t even have any idea about what current gun laws are in effect, while simultaneously not caring about the massive shortcomings in the enforcement of existing laws, but often support laws already in effect in California or laws that are milder than what is in effect in California, that did not have any appreciable impact on stopping recent mass shootings in California.
For instance on the enforcement of existing laws: less than 1% of over 77,000 felony attempts by felons to purchase a firearm in California being prosecuted, when the government gets electronically notified of the crime with a failed background check, for reason of felony conviction or domestic violence conviction, have documents including their signature, thumbprints, identification, etc. right in line with them checking the box that they are not a felon, and if they are a felon and they check this box, that’s a felony the DOJ will charge them with (j/k, they don’t actually do their job–they just try to make criminals out of lawful gun owners) . Seems like a slam dunk, but there is no prosecutorial interest in that one, in the state with some of the most ridiculous infringements on our rights.
This is undoubtedly a tragic event but the nerve of Becton to post a message like this is laughable. Becton has continuously released or refused to prosecute violent criminals who then continue to wreak havoc in our communities. This is not a gun control issue, this is a people issue. Our justice system needs a massive overhaul to crack down on crime. And these idiots who want to defund or abolish the police but then cry about situations like this are hypocritical morons
The shooter was another wacko – mesmerized by years of violent video games…. shot his grandmother in the face then posted on social media he was going after elementary kids… if that isn’t a sign of someone being off mentally I don’t know what is…..

There is no doubt that there is a problem but we have had semi-automatic rifles for more than 100 years but the problem does not go back so far. It suggests the cause is elsewhere.
BTW, what does “90% of Americans want gun controls” mean? We have gun controls.

The criminal is dead. 21 other people are dead. He didn’t commit any crimes until he fired his first shot as he purchased the guns illegally. It’s time to make the sale of semi-automatic weapons a crime, and as you point out, fully prosecute people who sell them illegally.

Example of lack of common sense: One of the Democrat drafted pieces of legislation that was passed in the House is the so-called “Bipartisan” Background Checks Act of 2021 (H.R. 8) apparently based on legislation passed in California. The summary states “This bill establishes new background check requirements for firearm transfers between private parties (i.e., unlicensed individuals)”. It goes further than that, however. In the text of the bill, amongst other things, it states “It shall be unlawful for any person who is not a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer to transfer a firearm to any other person who is not so licensed, unless a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer has first taken possession of the firearm for the purpose of complying with subsection (t)”. Curiously, licensed collectors (of curios & relics) are not mentioned and yet they are holders of federal firearms licenses requiring extensive background checks. Under this legislation they are treated just like private parties. Collectors are not shooting up schools nor are they some category of persons buying firearms without background checks. H.R. 8 would effectively eliminate the purpose of an FFL03, that being to facilitate the acquisition of curio & relic firearms in interstate commerce. Currently, in most of the country (but NOT California) a licensed collector can purchase C&R firearms from an out of state dealer and have them shipped direct to them. A private party must have out of state firearms shipped to a dealer (FFL01) to do the background check. This bill would treat FFL03s just like private parties. Why? It makes no sense.

So you want schools setup like prisons with razor wire and double gates, guards, metal detectors. Yeah that would be so welcoming as a learning environment. Think of the cost, OMG.
Gun free zones are little more than a killing field for rabid mental cowards ! ! ! OR was that the idea when they were created ? ?

First mass school shooting I remember was in Stockton were the children were in the playground and the shooter was in a elevated area. That was in 1989. But those were Asian kids so there wasn’t news about it after a few days. Then came a slew of post office attacks. That’s where “going postal” came from. I think the ban on assault rifles began when some guy when up an office building on California St in San Francisco. There were a lot less news about mass shootings until after the ban on assault rifles expired and not renewed. As the various assault rifles got bigger and better so did the mass shooting. Always comes the cry to do something but no one can agree on what. So nothing ever got done, nothing will be done this time, nor even the next.
Don’t moan to me about your right to have guns. There is a big difference between a hand gun for home protection, a hunting rifle, and a military grade assault rifle. Do you really need to have military grade assault rifles to protect your home while your children are being killed with them at school? Do you carry them to protect yourself at work, to go the movies, to go shopping, or to church? At the very least, ban all assault types of rifles.
Dorothy- it is not legal for citizens to own “assault rifles” which, by definition, are select-fire (including automatic fire). The “scary” assault weapons are nothing more than a semiautomatic rifle – one trigger squeeze/one shot, using an intermediate cartridge.
Please try to educate yourself and not follow the BS hype from politicians that don’t know $hit about firearms.
Your “experience “ with firearms is what – specifically?
glen223, now that you have educated me about assault rifles, what are you going to propose to help end the mass shootings? I have proposed a ban on all assault types of rifles. Your counter proposal is what?

Ain’t no way we are giving anything up.
Hey Chuq, I recall from reading history that in WWII, the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto who were poorly armed with some old hunting rifles and pistols and Molotov cocktails held off the German army for a month. Note the German army had all sorts of shiny new war things like Tiger tanks and stuff. A more likely scenario would be that if the crazy progressives ever succeeded with their dreams to sucker military leaders into a coup (see for example the breathtakingly poor judgement of Gen. Milley telling the Chinese they will get a heads up on any US military strikes), any amount of civilian resistance would decimate the military’s morale and they would stop cooperating with Bernie, Kamala, and Pelosi.
Chuq – do you really think that the US military will blindly follow orders to fire on the US citizens ? Do you think they would follow illegal orders? Do you really think that law enforcement will follow illegal orders?
You have no idea about the military or law enforcement. Your lack of knowledge in general demonstrates that you are not to be taken seriously.

There is no simple solution to rectifying the insanity of mass shootings.
It’s taken our society a few generations to reach this horrific point in time and it’ll take just a long to remedy this situation.
It’s a back to basic’s movement that’s needed.
Back to basics of family values.
Back to basics of personal values.
Back to basic of what’s right and wrong.
Treat other as you would like to be treated.
Be respectful and accountable.
Be religious. If you can’t, at least be aware of the teachings of the Bible.
Follow the 10 Commandments.
Be considered a person of good character.
Reinstate values such as integrity, morals and honor.
It all starts from home with the family. Children emulate their parents.
People can start this now.
It needs to start now.

Hanne: I’ve had this discussion on this website multiple times, so I think you already know the answer I would give, but here is the brief version. The one “gotcha” that the Democrats seem to point to, the Jan. 6 thing, was a protest that got out of hand. Contrast it with the estimated 4,700 BLM protests, of which 570 were violent and included looting, arson, occupying government buildings, and attacking police stations. As for Jan 6 being a coup attempt, I have in my house someone who went through a coup and revolution in Africa and had to flee. That coup had people getting macheted to death in streets and others shot in large numbers. The Jan 6 protestors were armed with flags. A coup attempt is not done with flags. This is just a big show by Democrats to very undemocratically eliminate a leading opponent in the next presidential election. Thank you for the chance to get up on my soap box again.

What do you expect when kids sit at home and play video games all? A huge part of the problem is the enormous shift in our culture. The advancement in technology has come with an unimaginable price. Then, social media allows them to promote it. I was born in 1982 and things were so much easier when I was a teenager. Sadly, I dont think any gun laws will make a difference and I don’t think it will get better.

VOTE FOR MARY KNOX!!!!
Becton is a George Soros bought and paid for tool.
The only laws passed on CA are lack of sense laws.
Agree!
Betcon is not the DA we need in this county.
YES!
Cellophane +1
I totally agree with these comments. Becton has been nothing but a give a free card out of jail to many times to count and is only trying to act like she cares not that the election is breathing down her neck.
Becton is a serious deficit to the county. Do please vote with common sense and not re elect her. We need law and order back in our county.
A gun is not a tool it’s a weapon. It’s time to ban the sale of semi-automatic guns with removable magazines.
People all over the world struggle with mental health issues but nowhere else has school shootings with the frequency that we do.
Chuq – a gun is a tool with a specific purpose. A hammer is a tool with a specific purpose. Dynamite is a tool with a specific purpose.
Any one of those devices can be used as a weapon.
Go back to hiding on the basement with your stuffed animals.
Since you’re advocating banning the sale of some firearms, exactly how are you going to address the millions of those firearms already owned?
Or do you just throw out politically correct “common sense “ (ha!) statements with no idea how to implement your demands?
You come here with what you think is a problem, yet you have NO solutions. You’re failing in life by expecting others to resolve it.
“No way to prevent this” says only nation where this regularly happens
Another bizarre EVENT with a 1,000 unanswered questions, but hey the Sandy Hook Promise has been reactivated to do their 50 State Gun Grab Tour!!
@Hanne
No, Hanne, it’s not a myth. Michael Moore is definitely one, as he just admitted it……and there are a lot more, not just a few. Don’t defend anyone going after the U.S. Constitution; the authors knew what they were doing.
@ Hanne Jeppesen
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) calls for the banning bump stocks, semiautos, & high cap mags.
Shannon Liss-Riordan, Democratic Senate (MASS) candidate calls for the repeal of the Second Amendment.
Esquire Magazine – “More Democrats Should Be Calling for the Repeal of the Second Amendment”.
John Paul Stevens’s last big ideas: repealing the 2nd Amendment.
The Nation – “It’s Time to Repeal—and Replace—the Second Amendment”
The New York Times – “Democrats, 39 percent, do indeed want to repeal Second Amendment”
Myth my ass
Hanne – that is utter BS. Robert Francis O’Rourke (aka “Beto”) has publicly stated that, as have many (democrat) politicians.
Listen to what they’re saying.
Hanne, with all due respect, you’re wrong more times than you’re right.
Are you willing to pay for the background checks?
Your qualifications?
Before quoting some crap from some gun control org (including the mainstream media), you might want to learn the facts . Otherwise you’re just parroting some other idiot that has zero knowledge of the subject.
No need to thank me – you’re welcome.

Confiscate all the guns?(good luck with that).
There are a hundred other ways to accomplish mass murder without firearms.
https://tinyurl.com/3rjcmuh9
Take your hypocrisy elsewhere.
Chug https://www.infoplease.com/us/crime/timeline-of-worldwide-school-and-mass-shootings
And why only in the United States, Ricardoh?
They play violent video games and have depression and anxiety all over the world. Why isn’t this happening everywhere?
Because in other countries they have COVID concentration camps.
Man they are spending a lot of money on her campaign. Serious Soros deep pockets. And Newsom has been quiet as a mouse.
Campaign money eh? Have you seen how much Ted Cruz receives from the NRA?
@chuq… keep redirecting from the issue raised.
Do you have problems concentrating?
Chuq – you are not the one to tell me what I “need” or “don’t need.”

Spot On! We already have gun laws; this DA refuses to enforce them! Vote Mary Knox; she will enforce the laws already on the books.

It should be unlawful by the media to show pictures of the killer or release their name.
Totally agree!
The shooter was another wacko – mesmerized by years of violent video games…. shot his grandmother in the face then posted on social media he was going after elementary kids… if that isn’t a sign of someone being off mentally I don’t know what is…..
How is “we” that she starts with?
It’s easy for politicians to blame inanimate objects, rather than blame the parents for failure in his upbringing.
Prove me wrong.
+1 …it’s like banning Fords because someone DUI hurts somebody in an accident
Political manuvering for her election-We need a District Attorney who actually cares about the community.
No to gun violence, yes to $billions$ in weapons to Ukraine ?
It use to be, Use a gun go to Jail. But of course you needed a DA that actually would prosecute to the fullest of the law. We have the laws in place already use them. Get rid of these soft on crime DAs and Democrats and use existing laws to curb this crap.
Vote for Mary Knox.
Remember people the SECOND AMENDMENT is to protect us against our own government. Unfortunately, the way things are going it is necessary.
Becton does not have the people’s best interest, she supports the criminal lifestyle. She is a BLM supporter (domestic terrorism). This progressive approach is garbage. All CRIME is up across the nation. Catch and release only emboldens criminals at the expense of good people.
Wake up California. Charles Barkley for CA Governor 😊
Darwin, you have been misinformed. Here is the text of the 2nd amendment, it is for the people to protect the state, not the people to go against the state, There is no reason not to read the entire amendment.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
@Ardath,
Don’t forget the qualifier “free” applied to the state.
@Ardath
I technically stand corrected 👍🏼 Thank you!
However, after watching the USA get burned looted and Murder for over 9 months while our leader stood by or encouraged this behavior l lost trust in the government and think the 2A May be morphing into something else.
California already has the most draconian and strict gun laws in the country. Laws that infringe on the constitutional rights of all citizens. My god, a background check to buy ammo? All gun laws are illegal. Molon Labe.
Come and take it from my cold, dead hands.
This DA does not enforce gun laws currently on the books, why is she calling for more? Do you know how many convicted felons are released with time served from CCC custody on a monthly basis? A lot!! It is sad that Democrats across the country have used this horrific tragedy as a talking point to advance their agenda before these precious children and their teachers have been laid to rest. Absolutely shameful!!!!!
**convicted felons with new firearm charges*** released from custody
We had a ban on assault rifles and it worked, bring it back. 90% of Americans want gun controls, we are being held hostage by the NRA lobby and dirty money. In the mean time all we do is point fingers at each other, complain on blogs, and do nothing.
There is no doubt that there is a problem but we have had semi-automatic rifles for more than 100 years but the problem does not go back so far. It suggests the cause is elsewhere.
BTW, what does “90% of Americans want gun controls” mean? We have gun controls.
Gun violence went down during the 1994 – 2004 federal assault weapon ban. Let’s return to that.
Please cite your “study” that says “90% of Americans want gun control.”
I’ll bet that your study is a selected data set provided by the Brady Center or HCI.
It’s easy to lie with statistics.
Don’t take my guns away. Prosecute the criminals to the fullest extent of the law.And the politicians for not upholding the law.Starting with Newscum for not upholding the death penalty in California. Criminals are going to continue to get guns even if you outlaw them completely it’s called the black market.Wake up you stupid people and go after the real problem.
The criminal is dead. 21 other people are dead. He didn’t commit any crimes until he fired his first shot as he purchased the guns illegally. It’s time to make the sale of semi-automatic weapons a crime, and as you point out, fully prosecute people who sell them illegally.
Typo on my part: he purchased his guns legally. It’s a problem.
How come this numb nuts could afford to buy two rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammo but could not pay his phone bill?
No one is mentioning that one of the biggest causal factor in mass shootings is the instantaneous and ubiquitous press that the shooter receives. Want to de-incentivize mass shootings – stop making the killers famous by showi g their faces.
Yep. Highlighting the killer emboldens more lunatics who dream of doing the same evil.
Many of these shooters are suicidal, so not sure it is the biggest factor, could be one, but the press has to report news, certainly they cannot ignore such a tragedy.
Bunch of LIES from the mainstream Liars.
Original report was some kind of an altercation in the parking lot which was stopped by a Concealed Carrier.
The school supposedly dismissed the students for the day after and and Just Like Magic………A STORY suddenly morphed into a mass casualty event.
How convenient…..never let a crisis go to waste……we need to brainwash the public regarding guns.
Those are all Democrat Quotes BTW.
Seems like every day new information comes out, local police are changing their story, don’t be so quick to judge
There was no armed guard and the doors were unlocked, but let’s blame the gun. Maybe if wannabe-trans were treated for mental illness instead of being given celebrity status, this could have been prevented.
End gun free zones, allow conceal carry by TRAINED individuals on campuses.
“Think of the cost, OMG.”
WHAT IS THE LIFE OF A CHILD WORTH ? ? ?
“What society in human history ever gathered its children together, then issued a public guarantee that they would be left completely undefended?”
— Alex Rawls
@WC—Creeker
The last time I went to Martinez for jury duty, I walked into the building and was immediately greeted by armed sheriff’s deputies and a metal detector. Every school across the nation should have the same setup, no matter what the cost or aesthetics.
Cyn, the killer didn’t sneak the guns in. What was a metal detector going to do?
Anyone who is capable of killing a classroom full of children is capable of anything. Many cannot cope with our present day culture. Gun control will not fix them.
Interesting to see the number of legal “experts” here opining on what the 2A really means.
Please post your CA bar # and specialty- as well as your CV…. So that we can see that you’re a bonafide Constitutional law expert, rather a 10-year-old keyboard warrior hiding in momma’s basement.
Wow and I thought the shills turned out just for the COVID HOAX. chuq is on a roll. It’s to bad he didn’t establish any credibility over the last couple years or people may take him seriously.
This is the big one..the bottom bottom biggest. They WEF/WHO/NWO most definitely want a disarmed America. ULTRA DARK MAGA FOR LIFE
Sam, you think you are going to stop the US Military with your personal guns? This is why I have no reason to take you seriously.
Don’t put words in my mouth little guy. My guns my choice.
KILLER COWS…..have killed more than school shooters. Who Knew – –

My qualifications? Retired military and law enforcement. Retired department armorer.
Until then, sit down.
Your guns, your choice until the laws change. We had a ban on assault weapons from 1994 to 2004 and it was very healthy for our nation.
The idea we intend to fight the government with ar-15s is just a way to make us look bad. The reality is we intend to fight people like chuq.

Politically speaking these mass shootings, like Covid, are God’s gift to the left. I hate to see victims used that way.

But but but…..
Isn’t the school a “gun free zone?”
