This Sunday, May 15, the City of Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, and the Contra Costa Community Warning System (CWS) will be conducting an evacuation DRILL for part of the Rossmoor community.

The drill will begin at approximately 7 a.m. and include an evacuation alert message for participating residents.

Drill participants will be directed to the temporary evacuation point at Heather Farm Park.

Other residents in Walnut Creek may receive these alerts but they are not required nor expected to participate in the drill. In the event of an actual emergency, evacuation orders will be issued via the CWS system with instructions of where to go.

Who expects anyone to get up, get dressed, and get out the door by 7 AM on a Sunday in Rossmoore?

The locals there usually don’t get out the door until 11 AM.

Then they move so slow that the local snails appear to be mosquitos.

Since Rossmoorians can get lost in their own driveway, this will be fun to watch.

Now THAT’s Funny!

I don’t care WHO you are…

What an utterly mean spirited post. SMH…

Knowing where to evacuate is important for older people. Especially those with medical issues

@Martinezmike….When you got to go, you got to go, no “ifs”, “ands” or butts.

Rossmor to Heather Farm? Why not drop them off in a shopping center.

Aunt Barbara May 15, 2022 - 4:38 PM - 4:38 PM

civic park is closer and Popo are right across the street to help.

Cellophane May 15, 2022 - 8:15 AM - 8:15 AM

Depends…

Dr Jellyfinger May 15, 2022 - 7:56 AM - 7:56 AM

You folks are being disrespectful.
The oldsters I know in Rossmoor wouldn’t run, they’d stay & fight.
I’ve seen the plans!
Rossmoor Militia would simply build a golf cart barricade at the guard post entrance and post snipers on the high ground all along the ridgeline around the valley.
Those who do not have proper firearms will take a driver & a bucket of balls up the mountain…. rain hell from above.
Imagine a dozen Toro Greensmaster 3100’s charging across the the fairway, the razor sharp blades spinning in front… grumpy old duffers with murder in their eyes bearing down upon the hapless invaders.
Motorized wheelchairs driving a thundering stampede of deer & turkeys down Rossmoor Parkway.
It’s too terrible to imagine…..
Don’t ever mess with Rossmoor!

Heather Farms Park. Seriously. If there is ever a wildfire at Rossmoor, I don’t think Heather Farms is a good idea.

Dawg May 15, 2022 - 3:37 PM - 3:37 PM

It’s Heather Farm, there is no “s” in the name.
