Investigators with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District arrested a 40-year-old homeless Concord man who they say intentionally set a dumpster fire that wound up engulfing an adjacent business.

Investigators allege that in the early morning hours of April 8, Robert Acuff was seen on surveillance video igniting cardboard and putting it in a dumpster before leaving the scene.

After crews arrived on scene to reports of a fire at a business in the 1500 block of Clayton Road, they determined the fire originated in the dumpster.

Concord police searched the area and found Acuff, whom fire investigators recognized from the surveillance video. He was taken into custody and taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Poor fellow just went to get a King Cobra so he could enjoy a nice evening next to a fire.

I wonder if he was hoping the fire would spread to the hotel under construction behind the dumpster he set on fire.

For every homeless person who causes damages for any reason, theft, arson, bodily injury-whatever the never ending funds given to the homeless form the woke crowd the the scum politicians who continue to pander to these folks for votes. Those funds should be reduced by that amount which LE or fire department or insurance companies charge the innocent party who was victimized. Plus the person who did the damage needs to do jail time and be put on a work crew to pay back the damage and debt. Stop the flipping handouts for those that suck the rest of the community dry. The excuses are lame and are past ridiculous.

Sam…Have you ever thought of running for Governor of California?
Tired of the Incoherent poordecision making Pansy we have now.

He’s probably already been released with no bail anyway…

I’m going to start referring to “homeless” by their more accurate description: transient drug addicts.

+1 I like that

“Feral humans” is mine

I think they deserve the term bums and druggies, fragrance. We’ve been way too nice for too long We’ve been way too nice for too long.

It is time to end this madness. If you want to be homeless then you go to a campground. Stop setting fires, stop leaving garbage everywhere and stop using our yards and store fronts as your bathrooms. I see no contributions to our society by these individuals.

…so who is surprised that another transient drug addict starts more fires? …no one… and what is being done about the ongoing problem of arson by them? nothing… this morning going down Concord Ave a transient drug addict was sprawled out on the sidewalk passed out wasted….. I guess it will take some huge fire with human loss to get the leadership to wake up…

Why did I know this gentleman was homeless before clicking the post?

Not surprised. On Friday night there was a bum burning clothes in a garbage can on the corner of Olivera and Port Chicago. It was a huge blaze. I’m sure they have been released. If you really want to see who gets released take a look at this report from CCC Sheriff for March. Select the Arrest Report option. http://63.192.159.75/PublicReport/Web/InCustodyReports

Even feral people have “laundry day”.

Not shocking that Acuff is still out committing crimes. SMH. The guy is always pointing fake guns at people, walking in traffic, stealing, and being a general pain the arse.
