As portions of the San Francisco Bay Area and northern and central California remain under the earliest Red Flag Warning ever issued for the region during the early weeks of spring, stronger winds are expected all day Sunday, according to meteorologists.

The Red Flag Warning, issued by the National Weather Service and in effect since 5 a.m. Saturday, will remain in effect through 5 p.m. Sunday for Solano County in the North Bay area and most of the Sacramento Valley from Sutter County in the north to western San Joaquin County in the south.

Meteorologists at PG&E said the highest wind gusts are expected in western portions of the Sacramento Valley with gusts around 50 miles per hour, and gusts of of 35 to 45 miles per hour across the rest of the Sacramento Valley and the San Joaquin Delta.

A PG&E spokesperson said the utility does not anticipate needing to conduct Public Safety Power Shutoffs, which are utilized only as a last resort during severe weather conditions.
