A man killed in an apparent road rage shooting Wednesday afternoon near Lafayette has been identified as 20-year-old Basel Jilani, of Lafayette, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Police responded just after 1 p.m. Wednesday to calls to the area of Taylor Boulevard and Gloria Terrace. Jilani was on the ground, and bystanders were attempting life-saving measures. He died at the scene.
The killer is still at large, but no other information has been released.

They also said the speed limit there is 25…. It’s actually 50. Recklessly perhaps, but saying they were going 60 in a 25 is a lot different than 60 in a 50 🤷♀️
50 on Taylor, 25 on side streets. The witness said they were 60 on a side street. BTW, the limit changes on Taylor depending on which section you are on.
Sounds all too familiar, I’m sure some hand gestures and words representing Richmond, Pittsburg or Antioch were used at multiple points before the shooting

Not sure l’m right, but description of suspect isn’t that at the police department s discretion? If someone is described with a certain hair color or facial hair, and it is all over the news suspect could easily try to alter their appearance. Don’t we all remember when Scott Petersen was caught and charged with his wife’s murder, he had grown a beard and dyed his hair. The public might want to know, but l don’t think it is a right.

I always have my dash cam on. They should be standard equipment on all vehicles.
I’m not trying to blame the victim, just curious as to how and why a 20 yr old is renting a $3million+ home on Arbor View Lane.
Where does it say anywhere here that he was renting a $3M home? Perhaps at 20 he is still living with his family and the family as a whole is renting the home. Since it’s at the edge of the Acalanes district the family might be the ones renting as they want other children in the family to attend an academically excellent school.

Neighbors seem to indicate he lived in the home alone.
Maybe I’m reading this wrong, but he was found in the middle of the road?
So … someone driving the car he was in must of kicked him out?
He could have exited the vehicle after or before getting shot.
He may have been pulled out by bystanders that were doing CPR.
Maybe the bystanders that were performing life-saving measures, pulled him from the vehicle.
Many people, whether sick, injured or whatever exit their car for help or if in a panic. Not unusual at all.
Everyone should have a dash cam it can be a good deterrent.

Hmmmmm…. Lot’s of mysterious circumstances regarding this guy. No pictures of the guy. If he had any social media presence then it’s been scrubbed. Looks like he registered a corporation last year. No details about it. I would like to know more about him.
