A bicyclist was rescued by helicopter in Lime Ridge Open Space in Concord this afternoon.

The man, a 60-year-old male, was involved in a bicycle crash and fractured his ankle.

He briefly lost consciousness, but was alert when first responders arrived.

Thanks to Sassy for the photos from the scene.

Owww! Hope he’s ok. Thanks First Responders.

A Helicopter for a broken ankle?

+1 .. and his insurance pays for the helicopter ride and not us

Hopefully he didn’t get hurt from all the trees and rock blocking the trails by the Rangers….

You mean he was on the trail where bicycles are not allowed? Well-well… What’s that saying about karma?

Those are not trails. Trails are marked. The obstacles are placed to keep folks from ignoring the signs and going off trail. Stick to the trails and obey the posted rules.

See, this is what happens when you excerse.
60 year old men should stay on the couch.
Sir, I hope your leg heals quickly.

Not on the couch :(…Just not on a bike out there, if you value your life

Fail. Prob one of those amateur riders who wears a helmet lol.

Lost consciousness or fell asleep?

Gettin froggy on the ridge … stay rad uncle ripper … !!!

That looks like the parking lot at Cowell/Ygnacio Valley Rd. The first path is a people only trail. I wonder why he would be on that one if that is the case. It is too narrow for bikes.

All that traffic and a helicopter for an ankle??? I was starving in the middle of Ygnacio Valley traffic….

First responders do not call in a medical helicopter unless one is needed. The man’s having lost consciousness ….. even briefly….. could indicate a small stroke having caused the accident or else a concussion because of impact. If it were a compound fracture, there might have been arterial bleeding. Time is of the essence because scans are needed!

I surely hope that he is feeling more comfortable by this writing and that physic

…sorry (dragged my little finger over one of those side commercials)…. hope his physical therapy will go well.

By the looks of the traffic, one would think the accident was on YV. C’mon people, just drive along. It’s not you’ve never seen a helicopter.

Antler is right. Things could be more serious than than they appear.
Remember Bob Saget.
Too bad there is no feature on this site to delete our own remarks.

Next time better send in the Marines.

From a lot of the comments, is school out today?
