A 23-year-old Concord man was arrested this week for impersonating a police officer.

On Monday afternoon at about 1 p.m., Concord Police dispatch received a report of a white sedan with emergency lights activated, driving erratically in the Clayton Valley area of Concord.

Officers converged on the area and located a Hyundai Accent matching the vehicle description near Clayton Rd. and Alberta Way.

Police say the vehicle was equipped with emergency lights, a siren, and a “police” marking on the side.

A replica firearm was located on his person along with a radio, badge holder, and handcuffs, according to police.

The driver, whose name wasn’t released by police, was arrested and the vehicle was towed.

If you believe you’ve been pulled over by this vehicle, you should contact the Concord Police Department at 925-671-3333.

There was a guy that use to live down the street from me that was a wannabe cop, and his car actually looked like a police car. It was a white Ford Crown Victoria, complete with push bars on the front bumper, spotlights, red and blue lights mounted on the dashboard, inside the grill, and on the rear deck. He also had block letters on the trunk that read, K-9 KEEP AWAY. The police came out to talk to him, but there wasn’t anything they could do. As long as he never activated the lights or siren, it isn’t illegal, and as far as I know, he never did anything illegal, he just enjoyed driving around playing cop. In a way I felt sorry for him, he was extremely obese, and lonely.
If you ever wonder if a police cruiser is the real thing, look at the license plate, it should read CA EXEMPT.

Undercover ones will have a regulator plate.

Wonder if they were able to find him proper accommodations for a few days?
Something with nicely tufted walls, door and no doorknob on his side.

He’s 23 and actually thought he could get away with this?

Well like fully believe that we try to be young and heart….. And I am looking at this from an over 55 view … I’m amazed at the number of people out there that have not grown up. I mean 40-year-olds that dress like their teenagers and still ride skateboard. So I think 23-year-olds now are about the equivalents of 16-year-olds generation or two ago.

George February 25, 2022 - 11:31 AM - 11:31 AM

Badge1104 – I agree with you and many of the these 40-year-olds that dress like their teenagers don’t want any rules or responsibilities therefore they turn out to be homeless.

Most of us used to play at being a cop when we were children.

I guess some people never grow up.

Kauai Mike February 25, 2022 - 6:33 AM - 6:33 AM

With people blindly accepting government ‘authority’ now-a-days, he probably had quite the fun playing one.

Think he was in martinez last Thursday night, saw reflection of flashing lights and looked out to see a car stopped on road, with “police lights on”, driver got out of car and was not police officer. I reported it to martinez pd.

in this world where we have little to no control over so many variables, it is much wiser and socially acceptable, to empower oneself by taking care of one’s physical and spiritual body; in the real world, there are very few “right answers” and trillions of “wrong answers”; impersonating a law enforcement officer to empower oneself is most assuredly a “wrong answer”!!!.

WC February 25, 2022 - 8:45 AM - 8:45 AM

I bet he hung around donut shops.

Ricardoh February 25, 2022 - 8:50 AM - 8:50 AM

While driving through Seattle years ago I got pulled over by an old guy pretending to be a cop. He had lights on his car also. When I called up the court to see how much I owed they told me to rip up the ticket.

Steve February 25, 2022 - 9:07 AM - 9:07 AM

Wasn’t it a car like this ramming into Safeway?

Aunt Barbara February 25, 2022 - 11:43 AM - 11:43 AM

lol Is it because you are on the internet porn sites too much or because many women look like men now? Please advise

Patty Jones February 25, 2022 - 9:41 AM - 9:41 AM

This is how degenerates pull over women for unsavory reasons.

Dawg February 25, 2022 - 12:16 PM - 12:16 PM

Caryl Chessman comes to mind, he was known as the “Red Light Bandit.” In the late 1940’s, he robbed and raped women, using a red light to pull them over. He was executed at San Quentin in 1960.

Pablo February 25, 2022 - 12:35 PM - 12:35 PM

Now he gets to impersonate a prisoner. What a loser. So many losers in this world.

chuckie the troll February 25, 2022 - 1:25 PM - 1:25 PM

When will they arrest Becton for pretending to be a DA?

WC Resident February 25, 2022 - 1:43 PM - 1:43 PM

“If you believe you’ve been pulled over by this vehicle ….”

It would help a lot if Concord PD had released clear non-blurred out pictures of both the vehicle and the driver.

jaguarcat February 25, 2022 - 2:43 PM - 2:43 PM

doesn’t surprise me at all; 4 months ago I was pulling out of the Kmart store on clayton and this sliver 4 door Tahoe followed me down clayton and he put his lights on me but they were not red and blue just flickering white lights, wannabe, anyways he kept following me and I know he was getting pissed at me so I rolled down my window and gave him the finger and he slowed down and turned down another street. It should be a felony to impersonate a constable on patrol, just like people who wear army fatigues and say they’re in the army; its a security issue,

Snickerdad February 25, 2022 - 8:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Is there any PD in the state that drive Hyundai Accent.
ASKING FOR A FRIEND

Crystal February 27, 2022 - 7:21 AM - 7:21 AM
