UPDATE: Concord Carjacking Suspect Allegedly Breaks Into Home In North Concord

by CLAYCORD.com

The suspect in a carjacking earlier this week in Concord allegedly just broke into a home on Ponderosa Way (off Port Chicago Hwy.) in Concord.

He’s inside the home right now with one of the homeowners and a child. He said someone was trying to kill him, according to police.

The vehicle was located, still running, near the home he allegedly broke into.

Police are currently in the area, and a Sheriff’s Deputy with a drone is on his/her way to the scene.

Stay inside if you’re in the area.

UPDATE: The suspect is currently inside, by himself. All others who were inside the home were able to get out, according to police.

UPDATE: Before the homeowner was able to flee the house, the suspect went into the garage, and the homeowner locked the suspect in the garage. Police are currently flying a drone inside the home.

UPDATE: The suspect was arrested.

When seconds matter, police are minutes away! We should have better laws in California that protect gun owners when they have to protect their life from dirtbags!

I just cleaned up “Old Betsy” today and gladly offer my “trained marksman” services. My finger gets itchy when I read stories like this.

Armed Carjacking, Breaking and Entering, Holding hostages, +only a few etc’s… that’s not bad enough to “hold” him in California, I fear.
So far, he’s a “No-Bail Release and a Promise to Appear” if my guess is correct.

“Suspect was arrested”
That sounds good, but has some crazy liberal judge already released him? (Worried about him getting covid in jail?)
Who’s he going to carjack today now? Whose home is he going to break in today now?

Can hear them telling him they have the area surrounded and to come out over their loudspeaker. I think you mean Ponderosa Dr.

The suspect was cited and released from the scene on signed promise to appear in court.

… not really true – hopefully?

Everyone is safe. This was insane folks. God definitely took care of us. Please be safe and vigilant.

I’m happy to hear you weren’t harmed. And that guy is lucky he broke into your house instead of mine.

Another splendid performance by our own Concord Police Department.

The CPD is the best.

Well, let’s not get carried away. They’re good, not the best and they were better before Mahan retired.

Great reporting Claycord. Thank you.

Good job CPD

Where were the Social workers and Counselors???

Makes one wonder what other crimes the suspect committed these past few days since the carjacking.

Sounds more like Concord PD saved you. Good job got this scumbag off the streets. All felony penalties should increase for multiple offenders.

Nice work by the homeowner, glad the police got to fly a drone around, I guess.

DAMN IT! You stupid Democrat politicians, judges and officials! We are FED UP with criminals running amok because of your policies and misplaced kindness. WE, the good citizens are who matter and need to be protected. Not the scum!

We are all still traumatized but safe. CPD did an amazing job. My little one is still a little scared but we will be good.

Glad you guys are OK!

Darwin was heard to say, “Missed him by this much.”. Until violent criminals are delt with firmly, and for a long period of time, this kind of crime will continue.

My prayers do go out to the victims and hope they will feel safe in their own home soon.

@chuckie the troll…I think you have your quotes mixed up, “Missed him by this much” wasn’t Darwin it was Agent 86, Maxwell Smart’s quote.

Not mixed up. Who do you think Agent 86 was quoting? But don’t worry, Darwin will get this guy sooner or later!

Carjackings on the rise
Crime on the rise
Mentally ill on the streets

Democrats are great

25 years hard labor on a chain gang in Death Valley. That’s the criminal reform I really want to see. Doling out real punishment to deter the low impulse crowds.

Actually one year of hard labor, a loaf of bread to eat a day and no TV no gym no perks would be enough to deter people from going back. But now in prison you get to play baseball, workout in the gym, watch TV listen to stereo all while getting free medical and dental 24/7. (We good citizens don’t even get that)

@Anonymous-I’m sorry you had to experience that and you deserve so much support now.

Sounds methy.

Absolutely does

“Before the homeowner was able to flee the house, the suspect went into the garage, and the homeowner locked the suspect in the garage.” That was brilliant. Just absolutely brilliant. It’s also funny as all get-out!!!

How do you lock somebody in a garage?

Is there only one door?

Guessing locked the door from the garage to the house. Only way out for suspect was through garage door to outside where police were waiting. Quick thinking by home owner.

Deadbolts

Lucky it wasn’t my home.

The street is PONDEROSA DRIVE, not Way. My parents house on Ponderosa Drive had the standard two doors inside the garage, one to enter the kitchen and one to exit out onto the backyard. How did the homeowner keep the suspect from opening the back door to the backyard?
