The following information is from the Concord Police Dept.:
On February 10 at approximately 3:30 am, a resident in the north area of Concord saw several suspects attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his car. The suspects fled and the victim followed them.
At one point, the suspects began shooting at the victim and struck his car.
Officers arrived and chased the suspect car, but the suspects were able to get away.
The case is under investigation.

A mostly peaceful auto repair, almost completed. I would like to know how the suspects were able to get away from the police, but am afraid to ask.
Disturbing to think he would follow them unless he was on the phone with 911 and kept a distance.
How is that disturbing? Vigilante justice is apparently the only justice we will get. Why would you say that protecting our own property and rights is disturbing when these jerks are NEVER caught? Sounds like YOU are the problem.

“Chicken Little” Most people are not capable of sticking up for themselves. We will always have crime but not this amount of crime. The reason is crime at the present time pays. With no bail and light sentencing the perps have nothing to lose. Another problem is liability laws. Stores are afraid to have their guards act. The police are afraid of being sued. It appears that many here think that shooting out in the street is a good idea. That would be until a kid sleeping in his room is shot dead by a stray bullet from you or the perp. Do what you want in your house if you are capable but don’t put gunfire out in the hood.

wow,is not worthy putting our lives in danger with this skank bags,I live in the sun terrace neighborhood,by north concord aswell,my 07 Honda Accord my cat converter got stolen, I got up in the morning and I started my car and it sound really loud,so I look under my car and my cat was stolen, aswell, if you own a 02 to 09 Honda Accord please do something about your cat converter or put your car every night in side your garage because this guys will come s still it,so I call my insurance and they total my car because the repairs wore over 7500 bucks, this is crazy, I heard this guys take them only like one minute to still your cat converter, please becare full,is not worth it putting your live in danger,
if I buy aftermarket cat converter my check engine light won’t go off, so my car can’t pass smog,
It cost $3000-$5000 to replace them. Depending on car type.
this is crazy, I live in the sun terrace are aswell, by north concord,3 weeks ago my 07 Honda Accord the cat converter got stolen aswell, this guys need to go to jail,i hear this guys takes them like 60 seconds to cut your cars cat converter,if you own a 01 to 09 Honda Accord please do something about your cat converter to protect it from getting stolen, if you can put it in your garage or just do something to prevent from getting stolen, the insurance they total my car because the repairs wore $ 7500 that’s a lot money for someone that’ took 60 seconds to still it, protect your car , and if you own a Toyota Prius becare full as well, my friends cat converter got stolen aswell, last week, they have a new thing for the Toyota Prius, is call a cat converter plate, call a muffler shop and they should have those plate,,is not worth it to put your life in danger,

Make it a law the the State will be the only way to recycle cat converters with record keeping.
@Tim- Enforcement needs to be applied directly to the recycle businesses that except these items. Eliminate the money… I would rather live in a community where recycling items are gifted to projects we support then, recycling centers in our neighborhoods encouraging the collection and redistribution of garbage while we sleep.
