BART To Restore Service To Pre-Pandemic Levels By Running Trains Until Midnight

Later this month, BART will restore service to pre-pandemic levels by running trains until midnight every day of the week.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, BART closed at 9 pm. Sundays to work on rebuilding projects. Starting Feb. 20, Sunday service will run from 8 a.m. to midnight, BART officials said.

In addition, BART will run 5-line service every day until about 9 p.m., except for 12 single-tracking Sundays when cable replacement work is underway in San Francisco.

After 9 p.m., there will be 3-line service every day.

Also starting this month, BART’s 3-line service that starts about 9 p.m. is matched every day with other transit agencies’ timetables.

I drove by the Concord Bart parking lot today and it was maybe 40% full. It’s about time for Bart to ask for another 3 billion. Bay Area Rancid Transit.

News has it that they want to that on a ballot. Nope, not going to vote for it if they do.

When will Bart management open their eyes to the homeless, passed-out, drug-addicted elephant in the room? People don’t take Bart because they don’t feel safe in the stations or on the trains. The trains are filthy. The stations are filthy. How can low ridership be such a mystery to the Bart Board? Have any of them ever been on a Bart train? We don’t need more trains. We need a safe and clean transportation system. How can it be so hard to figure that out?

Well, after over two decades riding BART to Oakland every day (barring the two years during the pandemic), I am overjoyed to have just begun a new, fully remote job.

I will never ride that shame train again. Better add an hour each way on to commute for daily police activity causing delays. System more for criminals than commuters but that is what #Biden #Harris #Newsom #Boudin want via former President O’bummer.

Not included in this glowing announcement is ridership rates and income from fares. If a corporation gave a quarterly report like this the SEC would charge them with fraud. But we already knew that Fraud is BART’s middle name.

With more people working from home, public transportation could see a permanent reduction of riders.

And there’s more reason to cancel the HSR, ie the train to nowhere…

Bart is putting their heads in the san pretending things will go back to normal for them. They live in a dream world if they think they are going to get another transportation tax bailout. They should start freezing salaries now, eliminate overtime, and start maximum fare evasion efforts (this would also improve rider experience).

Why, to justify current staffing levels and salaries? The system already has a huge budget shortfall and this will only exacerbate the problem, resulting in the call for another tax increase on the majority who do not use the system. Talk about your white elephant!

and yet one day later BART issue a press release saying it needs more money from the public to stay solvent…

This puff piece did not age well for BART….

They need to close the north Concord Bart Station. It is empty all the time and the commuters use it as an illegal turn around to get back on the freeway. The immature drivers, who think they are driving race cars, with their loud modified mufflers also like to use the parking lot. Their noise disturbs the peace of all home owners in the area and scares everyone’s pets. It’s a nightmare.
