BART closed the Orinda Station on Monday afternoon at approximately 4:40 p.m. for what a spokesperson is calling an “major medical emergency.”

The BART spokesperson said they has confirmed that there is a person “in the trackway” and that first responders are on the scene.

The Orinda BART remained closed as of 4:50 p.m. A spokesperson for BART said that the agency will be taking a train out of service and going down to one track in both directions at the Orinda Station.

The Antioch line in the Antioch and SFO directions is also experiencing a 10 minute delay due to the emergency, BART said.

The transit agency is suggesting that riders take Contra Costa Transit Bus #6 between Orinda and Lafayette. The bus will honor BART tickets, the agency said.

UPDATE: BART confirmed the person was killed. No foul play is suspected.

Thanks to Juan Juarez for the photos.

.
Please! Everyone please enjoy the untimely inconvenience of public transit and especially BART, the SF Bay Area’s social sewer system.
.

I hope this wasn’t an instance of a homeless wacko ( very common on Bart ) pushing someone on to the tracks in front of a train!

… another jumper…. done at the commute times… sad to begin with – but why BART?

Was someone pushed?

Another tragedy.

My thoughts and prayers to the loved ones.

May his memory be a blessing.

According to other sources, this was minor who took their own life.
Do all of you making snippy comments feel better now?

No one is making snippy comments. I would like details though because even this morning no info on what took place yet.

Very sad if true.

Many youth are under constant stress due to the Dems pandemic response. Please pay attention to the youth around you. Listen and try to be part of a solution for them.

Prayers to the family

PH-DAD—it’s only natural human interest to want to know if it was an accident, criminal or intentional. Your comment was a little snippy, too. You feeling better now???

@PH_Dad -agree with your post, if this was indeed the case, not knowing the other sources you are referring to.

Opinions are so important and how they are said matter, even when our real names aren’t used here. Obviously, there are a mix of assumptions and kind words because of a lack of fact here. But if this was a suicide, it is nothing to be quip about. Remember Oscar Wilde’s words, “When you Assume, you make an ass out of u and me.”

These comments are about as toxic as you can get for something like this. Politics? Seriously? How does that contribute anything here other than showing your true colors as a pathetic person. Go troll somewhere else.

If you didn’t already know, toxic comments are made regularly here.

In cases like this it is better to withold judgement until more facts are known. Suicide is not matter of politics, it is a matter of mental illness.

More jokes even about someone who died. @Ricardoh What details would you like? A person died what more do you want? people think they need to know everything now and instantly. They said no would play was suspected so they committed suicide. What do you want body location? the persons address and name? When did we become such a nasty society!!
