The California Highway Patrol said Sunday afternoon that a person crashed their car then jumped off the Benicia-Martinez Bridge.

The department received a report at 12:13 p.m. that someone crashed a pick-up truck into a barrier on the shoulder of northbound Interstate 680 on the Benicia-Martinez Bridge and then jumped off into the water.

The U.S. Coast Guard and a CHP helicopter were called in, and the person was found deceased about 15 minutes later.

The Solano County Coroner responded to the Benicia Marina to take custody of the body.

Suicide is always such a tragedy for everyone.

My thoughts and prayers to all.

.
A pick-up is not a car. It’s a truck.

Oh shut it and exit stage left, 12A. While you’re busy being hung up on the specific descriptions of vehicles – someone was so tormented they actually removed themselves from existence and left family members in mourning.

Who cares! I think there’s something a little more important here then you nitpicking. By the way, a truck is not a pick-up, there is a difference. 😂🤪

Good grief. As someone that drives trucks, a pick-up is a type of car. So is a station wagon. Bad milage and no back seat doesn’t give you truck status.

Randy January 31, 2022 - 7:29 AM - 7:29 AM

… description of the person? suspected alcohol or drugs? …info suspiciously absent… gee… wonder why

Wouldn’t it be nice if the next of kin were notified in person and not find out over the internet simply because Randy is curious?

Please tell me how having this information is going to change your life Randy in any significant way?

It is obvious that there is a lot more going on here than the 4 sentence synopsis provided. Unlike some police procedural TV show it takes more time than one episode to thoroughly investigate a suspicious death like this. The autopsy report is 10 days or more away and toxicology report alone is easily 60 day to 90 days out.

Sorry Randy you’re just going to have to live with a mystery for a while. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

National Suicide Hotline. If you’re feeling that way please call. RIP.

Maybe the driver didn’t have the toll ?

Another good example why people should use FasTrack.

I know several youth and young adults who suicided due to the unrelenting negative “rhetoric” about things they feel are out of their control. They are shunned and silenced if they try to speak out. (I know this from personal experience).

I find some of these comments terribly disturbing after a fellow human was so desperate that they chose to take their own life.
May your soul find rest.

Sadly, some suicides are bigger than what the suicide prevention hotline can handle. And if someone is bent on suicide it will happen no matter what. Impulse suicides never give warning or call anyone and sometimes never even end with a note or call. With the world socially isolating now, expect more. Welcome to the world.

Did he use FastTrack or the Invoice Option?
