U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla announced Thursday that more than $172 million will be used to fund projects throughout California for ports and waterways.

“Infrastructure includes the coastal ports and inland waterways that are vital to our economy, and the wetlands and levees protecting communities from storm surges and catastrophic flooding,” Padilla said. “I’m proud to announce that millions of dollars are coming to California to improve the capacity of our ports, restore natural habitats around our rivers, and provide more green space and areas for recreation.”

In other words, there will be more restrictions on properties adjacent to bodies of water and additional regulations to prevent full use and enjoyment by ALL of the public.

How about some desalination plants.

Like Joe’s BBB they never really point out what they are going to do. I hate that way of dealing. It is underhanded. They spend the money and you see nothing. If you want to fix bridges you list the bridges you want fixed and put down the amount you will spend on each bridge. I can’t imagine politicians blocking a bill that is specific and if it is needed. Voting for it now and finding out later is fraud.

Better read the fine print if Padilla is involved.

The democrats are fiscally irresponsible.

Their idea of a balanced budget is to raise taxes to match their pet project expenditures – then lie about where the money is going.

Then complain they don’t have enough money while they sit on a surplus.

Both parties spend in excess of the amount available. Democrats don’t have the market cornered on over spending.

@gary – They do when they have a supermajority in the California legislature, as well as most other elected state offices.

That’s a drop in the bucket.

… and how much of it will Newsom squander away to his pet projects? we need desalination plants and additional reservoirs , etc to store the rainwater we get… he needs to use our surplus tax $$ for that instea of his pet projects – like the high speed rail to nowhere and still approving housing where there is no water

We have water? Who knew?

“Restore natural habitats around our rivers, and provide more green space and areas for recreation” seems to work against “Infrastructure includes the coastal ports and inland waterways that are vital to our economy.”
