A man was arrested after allegedly setting off illegal fireworks at a gas station in Pleasant Hill on Tuesday night, according to police.
Authorities responded shortly after 11:15 p.m. to the area of Pleasant Hill Road and Devon Avenue regarding what residents called about a possible explosion at the ARCO gas station.
Officers arrived and found three people loitering at the rear of the business and determined that someone had set off the fireworks, causing moderate damage to his vehicle. The man, whose name was not released, was booked into jail on suspicion of multiple offenses, police said.
The damage was contained to the vehicle where the fireworks were found, and Pleasant Hill police did not report any injuries that resulted from the fireworks.
Oh nooo. I might be in trouble. I never knew you could be arrested for “suspicion of multiple offences” Can this also be a thought crime?
Nothing says stupid more than damaging your own property during the commission of a crime, and hanging around the scene while the police show up.
+1 … they don’t have to be smart 🙂
“You’ll shoot your eye out!”
Maybe he was trying to make a statement about keeping Tahoe Blue as his vehicle sticker claims.
Sounds like we almost had a late entry for the 2021 Darwin Awards!
Qualified to be a California politician…

🥳
Too bad it didn’t ignite that box of rockets in the back.
Dear police, check out behind the Chevron station on Clayton and Denkinger. Every evening, especially in warm weather, fireworks go off around 9:30pm. Give or take 10 minutes.
Probably the source of all the complaints from that area the past few weeks/months from the neighborhood.
